Victor Victor Mesa & Victor Jr sign with the Marlins
GenericUserName replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in FutureSox Board
This same article was posted earlier so its not a new update, but Sanchez saying he isn't signing with the Orioles is new. This is a weird situation. Two different reporters said he was signing with them, so I wonder where they got that information. -

It does seem strange, especially when it was reported he should have a showcase in a month or so, but Craig Mish said he is hearing the same thing. There was also an update article about him earlier today that didn't say this, but maybe they put it out because they were hearing something. And I guess skipping doing the showcase is explainable if the Orioles are giving him their full pool because they have like $5mil and he might realize he probably won't get more than that anyway. The not hearing about being cleared does play to your point a bit though, but I don't really know why they would leak something like this. -

Seriously haha. I guess this is a good scenario for us because we don't really have to worry about a good team getting him and maybe at some point we can get him from the Orioles. I wonder if his brother is also already cleared and if he is going to the Orioles as well. -
So your argument is that Torres isn't worth relatively more than Eloy was because he hasn't gotten 800 PAs yet and so we have no idea how good or bad he is, even in relation to others who also haven't gotten 800 PAs yet? Basically nothing before 800 PAs matters because you can't tell anything from those numbers.

You were talking production and now you are talking rankings. The rankings argument doesn't hold because Torres is no longer a prospect so we don't know his rank or what any of the ranking would have been before if players with two years of experience still counted as prospects. As for production, Eloy was producing at about the same level Torres is now, except at like four stages lower on the ladder.
-
That doesn't prove your point. You were making a false equivalency between a major league player and an A ball prospect.

They have Camargo who is doing pretty well.

What about the Braves with a package built around Austin Riley. That would solve our hole at third and they have so many arms we could probably get a pretty good one to help replace Rodon.

Soria traded for Kodi Medeiros and Wilber Perez.

It looks like Medeiros pitched yesterday, so we'll have to wait a few days to get eyes on him and maybe solve this velocity mystery. -

Whats interesting is that the new pipeline right up said he was sitting 92-95 last year after bulking up which was better than when he was drafted. Longenhagen just he is high 80s/ low 90s, but I wonder if that is the most recent info or from before he made the improvement last year. It will be interesting to get more info once we get some of our guys eyes on him. -

I feel like the board is much higher on Medeiros than some of the analysts and the Brewers fans I saw talking about it, so I don't know how to feel. -

So it sounds like the ceiling for Medeiros is top half of the rotation lefty with a weird arm angle and a wipeout slider while the floor is a LOOGY. Does that sound about right? -

I'm going to assume Perez is a late pop up fireballer considering he is a 20 year old in the DSL and signed when he was 19. If anyone has any other info, please correct me. -
Updated MLB Pipeline Top 100/Team Top 30
GenericUserName replied to Jose Abreu's topic in FutureSox Board
To be fair, I think most people don't think Basabe is an everyday CF, so if they are both corner OF guys, then the power is more important than the speed. And I would say Lewis has a good amount more raw power than Basabe. -
Wow, the Rockies are really doubling down on relief pitching. I wonder if they go all in enough to overpay for Abreu.

Seattle has been scouting Soria/Avilan
GenericUserName replied to ChiSoxJon's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yep, you are right. The Dansby trade was just horrible, not rule breaking. -

Its basically so teams can't get around the not trading draft picks by just agreeing to trades in principle and then confirming them after the draft. There used to be a loophole where a recently drafted player that should not be allowed to be traded was traded as a PTBNL in a trade. It happened to Dansby Swanson Trea Turner and everyone knew it so it was weird when he was playing for the team that drafted him for two months when he knew he was actually heading to the Braves Nats as soon as he was allowed to be traded. -
What would the White Sox get for Jace Fry?
GenericUserName replied to Dam8610's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I feel like relievers are down in value this cycle just because so many tanking teams seemed to have one. The Mejia trade was 2 good ML relievers with tons of control for one prospect, so I don't think that would factor into a Fry trade. I think the best option would be to keep him and reassess at the trade deadline next year. If we still suck and can get something good for him, we just proved that he is good by letting him have two good seasons in a row so the return should be greater than this year; if we are good, then we might have a really good bullpen arm and that means we don't have to worry about trading for one more spot in the bullpen. -
FG updated their 2019 rankings a bit. Adley is #1 and is the only 55 FV right now. Then there are five 50FV guys, none of which are Bobby Witt Jr. who is ranked #11. The five are (in order) Bryson Stott (Col SS), CJ Abrams (HS SS), Shea Langliers (Col C), Michael Toglia (Col RF), Riley Greene (HS RF). Honestly, after watching a bunch of the games, I'm pretty disappointed in Witt. He does seem to have power, but his speed seems to play down in game action, his actions were less fluid and overall just not great at short, and there are questions on his hit tool. I'm wondering if this is another case of a guy peaking early because they are old for the class (and in Witt's case he has the major league dad that might have helped him get better earlier than other), or if he is just growing into his body still and maybe has a changing skill set because of that.

I guess that guarantees we end up trading Jose.

I feel like Rosario should be in Arizona now. He is having a second good year in a row and is already 19.
-
It sounds like they are looking for starters so we probably don't have anyone that interests them.
