  1. Well I found something different we can spend some money on: For any who don't know, Boddy is the guy who runs Driveline. Let's use some of that money we have lying around to revamp our player development staff.
  2. You have to be a little skeptical of the stats because it is in the PCL with the new ball, but if we have an extra spot on the 40 at some point maybe we can see what he can do in the majors.
  3. I feel like someone will work out a system for the nets to go up and down. There will probably be enough stadiums around the world doing this that some engineering type will figure out something to sell to teams. Just give it an offseason trade show or two. MLB should take a page out of the NPB's playbook and have "excite" seats. It gives seats with no netting for those fans who want it while also being a special experience for other fans and the team can probably charge more for those seats.
  4. Jokes on you, its already decriminalized!
  5. He might have slid to 5, but 5 could have also then offered him over slot.
  6. Yeah. Its actually even less than that. Its like if you turn 21 within 45 days of the draft or something like that.
  7. He will be 21 by the draft date. He was 19 when drafted out of college, so he was always going to be sophomore eligible.
  8. I mean its probably an overpay in terms of comparing it to other drafted players, but in terms of just actual value to an organization it would be worth it. The draft suppresses a player's true value so much that even an overpay is a massive discount. The only reason it would be considered an overpay would be because we have a limited pool, but if we don't have anyone else to use it on, then its worth it.
  9. Not really, especially since we haven't signed all the other HS guys yet. Since he is going to be over slot, losing his slot value won't actually hurt us and we would actually have the amount above the slot that we were going to use for him to use to sign other guys. So if we had planned for ~$1.3mm extra to pay him (so ~$2mm total) and he wants to negotiate out of our range, we can take that $1.3mm, add the free $125k, and see if that is enough to get Logan Britt to sign. Then, as long as we offered at least 40% of the slot to Dahlquist, we would get an extra pick in the third round next year. So then he would be in the position of either taking a max of slot or going to school.
  10. Its especially nice considering baseball players aren't on full scholarships in college.
  11. I would rather not deal with the Yankees or Rays. I feel like they always win trades. Give me Mets, Brewers, or Braves.
  12. Oh, Butler is interesting http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?ID=195937 Looks like he was good, got injured before his junior year and missed it, then struggled when he came back as a RS JR and finally put it back together this year.
  13. Really hope he is signable. I would think with a Kansas commitment he should be.
  14. And has an uncle who is a pitching consultant and literally wrote a book on pitching
  15. Uh, did that guy just pronounce Lubbock as "Lou-Bock"?
  16. My first thought as well. Lets see what he can do with different coaching.
  17. Yeah, they are one of the premier baseball JuCos
  18. Yeah, it was bad. Hopefully he just like needs glasses or something haha Also, it appears he is a White Sox ACE guy
  19. Yeah, talking about a bad hit tool. Swing over spin, look at a strike, then swing over spin again. Good start to the video.

  21. Is there anything remarkable about him? Good fastball, crazy changeup, knuckleball?
  22. Also listed as one of the top 5 players from PR in the draft. Here is the write up: https://www.mlb.com/news/five-puerto-rican-players-to-watch-in-2019-mlb-draft
