  1. Pretty sure this one actually starts at that time and you really can't risk missing it. If you tune in half an hour late you might miss 5 rounds.
  2. I think we go HS hitters with a couple of the first picks, so here is my list of guys I would want that are available and I think still have a chance to sign: Chris Newell Jaden Brown Bobby Zmarzlak Ethan Vecrumba Emmanuel Dean Henry Gargus Jordan Beck Mason Auer Kody Huff Myles Austin Jason Hodges Jasiah Dixon Vaughn Grisson Joshua Rivera Trey Faltine
  3. The high end high school part seems to fit with the FG rumor that there are a lot of high school guys willing to take in the low hundreds of thousands. With the first $125k being free, even just a half million extra could get us 3 guys asking for close to $300k.
  4. Except it hasn't. We just took 6 senior signs in a row. In 2018, we took 2 and they went in the 9th & 10th rounds In 2017, we took 2 and they went in the 9th & 10th rounds In 2016, we took 3 and they went in the 4th, 9th, & 10th rounds In 2015, we took 4 and they went in the 5th, 7th, 9th, & 10th rounds
  5. Well it will be interesting to see what they do tomorrow. If we don't take anyone that looks like they will have to be over slot then we really bet our whole draft on those first 4 picks.
  6. Because if we didn't take him he was probably falling to 5, so we should be able to offer just over that slot and he would be getting more than if he doesn't take that.

  8. Gonzalez doesn't look bad from a hitting perspective. Nothing amazing, but not bad. I want to hear about his defense though.
  9. Damnit, Gabe Holt was one of my sleeper picks.
  10. I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see some teams do the dorm and better meals part of it pretty soon. One of the major impediments to this strategy would be the fact that teams do not own most of their affiliates, so they would be building dorms or meal facilities for teams which might have an agreement with a different organization in a few years. But a few teams have started buying up their affiliates. If they are able to have teams at every level, they could implement this strategy pretty quickly.
  11. Could be, but also looking at his game logs he also had some good games and some really bad games so he is not consistently bad. That seems to suggest that there is something inconsistent in his game. Its interesting how they said he had some good trackman data and how thee Sox gave them a heads up. The trackman thing would seem to be coming from the Sox because I don't think Callis or Mayo has access to that info. That makes me wonder if the other guys were picked for similar reasons and we just didn't get that info to them. We don't know yet. Likely a bit of both. They likely aren't changing the price. I mean they could be, but that would make the agent look really untrustworthy and would probably make teams more weary of dealing with that agent again. So more likely they agreed to deals and we are still making that overslot difference up.
  12. So looking up Weems' JC stats, he actually had a really good sophomore year. 12 K/9, 2.89 ERA, 5 CG, and only allowed 1 HR in 65 innings. I wonder if they had a report on him from then and saw that Arizona changed something with him that messed him up.
  13. Interesting that its two senior signs in a row. Either those HS guys are taking more money than initially thought, or maybe they are saving up to spread around on guys after round 10.
  14. I think its more of a time for teams to reassess their boards and make some calls around to agents.
  15. Yeah. He is probably going to sign for $10k and the difference between that and the slot value will probably be spread across the previous two or three HS picks so they can go over their slots.
  16. yep. That is why its so important for there to be underslot deals.
  17. Correct. When you sign the guy, you have the slot value in your pool. If you don't you don't get to use that slot value. After round 10, the first $125k doesn't count towards the pool, but anything over that does. However, going under $125k after round 10 doesn't get you anything added to your pool. So any money over $125k you plan on spending on picks after round 10 you better have accounted for in under slot deals in the first 10 rounds.
  18. Interesting that his velo spiked at the end of the year. Maybe we saw that when other teams didn't.
  19. So maybe something to take note of with Metzdorf, he only gave up 2 HRs this year in 82 IP.
  20. Well that might be it for interesting prep guys.
  21. To put Beard's speed in perspective, he has run a 6.21 60 yard run at a summer event and rumored to have run a 6.2 in a predraft workout. Here is where that ranks on the FG scale: Objective Tool Grades Tool Is Called Fastball Velo Batting Avg Homers RHH to 1B LHH to 1B 60 Yd Run 80 80 97 .320 40+ 4.00 3.90 6.3 75 96 .310 35-40 4.05 3.95 6.4 70 Plus Plus 95 .300 30-35 4.10 4.00 6.5 65 94 .290 27-30 4.15 4.05 6.6 60 Plus 93 .280 23-27 4.20 4.10 6.7 55 Above Avg 92 .270 19-22 4.25 4.15 6.8 50 Avg 90-91 .260 15-18 4.30 4.20 6.9-7.0 45 Below Avg 89 .250 12-15 4.35 4.25 7.1 40 88 .240 8-12 4.40 4.30 7.2 35 87 .230 5-8 4.45 4.35 7.3 30 86 .220 3-5 4.50 4.40 7.4
