  1. A World Series Championship justifies everything. It's like the Chapman trade for the Cubs. I don't fault them for that.
  2. I just want to bathe for a little while in the fact that we have the 5,6, and 7 vote getters in last year's Cy Young in our starting rotation.
  3. I think that Brantley reveal was the most troubling news I have heard from the Sox this off season
  4. and one of them thought so little of it that they took him back
  5. but there was a glut of RF on the market. The Sox jumped the market to obtain the guy they obviously wanted. It was an affirmative move.
  6. Remember when Reinsdorf cut the legs out of a deal between KW and Toronto. You only get to leave the Sox when JR allows it
  7. and sometimes a person rumored to be a dbag just angered the wrong person Sox management had reason to hate him but they chose to reacquire him, with a rash of other possible RF available.
  8. You see how people b**** when the Sox trade away any talent.
  9. I wonder if this is the first time in the history of baseball that alliteratively named players were traded for each other.
  10. Isn't Joc Pederson kind of douchey as well? I always thought of Eaton as just a little too intense rather than a bad guy. We could probably use a little more intensity. Anyway, this is a team where you better know some Spanish if you want to have any leadership impact. I could see the Cubans not even knowing what he is talking about and laughing at his frenetic pace.
  11. I was willing to give Mazara a pass for 2020. His expected arbitration was just too high, especially with the market flooded with veteran RF
  12. anyone remember what the offer/ask was for Lynn at the 2020 trading deadline? Would today's offer have gotten him from the Rangers?
  13. So where does he project in the lineup? It could set up a nice L-R combination at 8-9 with him and Madrigal getting on base at high percentages, not only turning over the lineup but putting people on for Anderson and the rest.
  14. I seem to remember Eaton's defensive metric excellence to be fueled by people trying to run on him and him throwing them out on the bases. Could any regression be based on people getting wise to running on him? It seems to me he still has above average speed which allows him to still cover plenty of area.
  15. Using 2020 stats is disingenuous. I don't look at them as indicative of any long term conclusions about a player. I'm not going into this season expecting 2020 stats from Abreu. I'm also not doing so with players who were on the down side.
  16. Platoon him with Engel. That should give him about 95 starts. In 2018 he had 95 starts hitting .301/.394/.411. I think those are attainable if you keep him on those limits. You can almost set your watch to him having a +.360 OBP, except for the anomaly of 2020.
  17. If the only thing this move does is permanently discredit Kinander's tweets, it has served a purpose
  18. There was a pretty good chance Dunning would be back down starting in the minor leagues at some point this season. I think people are projecting aspirations onto him.
  19. Jurko is a guy who loves to play fast and loose with the rules in order to joke around. It doesn't surprise me that he'd try to push his luck in an interview. I didn't blame Jim Everett when Rome continued to call him Chrissie in an interview despite being asked not to If Eaton hangs up on Jonathon Hood, then I'd be a little more concerned.
  20. I assume he is going to be in a platoon with Engel, which should limit his innings and save his body for maximum efforts in the innings he plays. Is that an incorrect assumption?
  21. Not this guy again. School kid always starts his inside information once each semester ends
  22. He'd also work well versus RH in a platoon situation. Save his legs against LH as he is a maximum energy type of player. That would make for a nice defensive combination in RF as well.
