  1. He'd also work well versus RH in a platoon situation. Save his legs against LH as he is a maximum energy type of player. That would make for a nice defensive combination in RF as well.
  2. His heirs. I don't know the economics of the booth. Do those guys really make enough to have FU money? I thought they made a nice, more than comfortable living but not the kind of money where you can take a big financial hit at the age of 50.
  3. waiting for the board to lose its shit when the Sox sign Eaton
  4. If we are going to sign a guy to fill a starter role on a partial season basis, I prefer Rich Hill
  5. It is a really good environment right now for a team to have players on one year deals. I'd like to see how our internal players develop before clogging up the rotation with big contracts. If things go well this year, the Sox may be only looking for a #5 type next year and maybe not even that.
  6. the agent would have choked him through the phone as it is undoubtedly a significant pay cut, a medium of lower importance and a team that provides less exposure for other jobs
  7. Len is a plain yogurt sandwich served on white bread with the crusts cut off. If you want to hear nothing but the company line told to you in the most boring fashion, Len's your man. Don't expect anything of any challenge to the team. He fashions himself as some sabermatrician but can only regurgitate what he reads. He doesn't have the capacity to actually critically analyze the information. He plays the guitar, so he's super cool and hip. I'm shocked at the positive reaction here.
  8. just like a marriage win and all is forgotten lose and you will never hear the end of it
  9. lots of great candidates for the position still available if they did the right thing and changed course
  10. The good news is that you pretty much have to hit someone to get stopped for a DUI on a chicago street, so as long as he stays off the expressways, he won't get hit with a third.
  11. The Score has been more than happy to report every bad thought about Larussa and dismiss any good ones that snuck onto the airwaves only because they were unexpected (Holliday, Kittle and Carrington come immediately to mind). I don't like the move but the Cubs' corporate partner is certainly doing its part to shape how it is viewed locally.
  12. somehow, i feel worse today about this than I did last week
  13. looking forward to the return of the mullett
  14. What did he nail...poor sentence structure? and yes, I do dislike him
  15. Let's also not forget that Jimmy denigrated all Sox wives/girlfriends on the air, saying something like that they were gold diggers and specifically calling them "horny broads", so there were some other for cause issued with Jimmy.
  16. JR wouldn't hire Collins for the Bulls a second time because he was overwhelmed by the thought of having to fire him again. I don't see why his line of thinking should have been different in this situation.
  17. I like all this talk about sincerity during Great Pumpkin season
  18. I know we have to have some media watchers on here who will join me in being a little skeptical of the hate for this move being issued by their Cubs radio partner
  19. They almost have to have a young person as a bench coach if they have any care about a succession plan. Not to have one would be unwise in this circumstance
  20. love it or hate it, what's done is done so I hope he is great
  21. he can bring in a slew of old cardinals just to further infuriate the cub media that has fomented the hate against this move
