  1. Stop it. I'd take every one of those worst case scenarios. Versailles was an MVP
  2. After a few days of reflecting, I am angrier than I was. The most likely scenario in all of this is that it is a 5 year contract after the opt out. So we lost Manny over refusing to guarantee the final two years that will most likely never become an issue. Even more infuriating is that if the Sox had matched, they would have paid less over those five years than they were proposing to pay under their final offer. I am just getting myself angrier biting into this layered shit cake.
  3. I think it would be a perfect time for a reporter to write a nice, long article about the history of JR ownership in this city and how he has made an almost willful effort to destroy the fanbase in order to ultimately move the team.
  4. Am I wrong to think that since the Sox were never going to give a player opt out and Manny was most likely insisting on one that there was never a legitimate offer on the table from Manny's perspective?
  5. The more telling thing, even beyond the dollars, is the Sox unwillingness to include a player opt out. That has become an industry standard for big free agent contracts and the Sox are not willing to allow it. That means, as you stated, they will not be legitimate contenders for any big free agents
  6. JR makes money if you show. JR makes money if you don't show. Where is the incentive to be excellent
  7. Hold your management to a higher standard or they will take you for granted
  8. like the guy on Boogie Nights whose wife has sex in the driveway in front of a big crowd while he is off in the corner complaining
  9. I don't know how anyone conjures up any excitement for this team in 2019? They are essentially AAAA ball for hopeful players to gain experience
  10. I need something stronger. Anyone got some spare heroin laying around?
  11. I know it would not be rational to boo Alonso and Jay all season but I'm not feeling very rational right now.
  12. Only thing Peggy has broke in her professional career is some camera lenses
  13. I was t saying it as a put down. It’s legitimately a high school kid as the source material
  14. my guess is that a contract value of $250 million would not make the top ten list of values Reinsdorf has negotiated in his professional life.
  15. There was no way JR was going to let Boras take negotiations down the path he has seen Boras take with so many other owners in the past. I think he saw Boras as a worthy adversary and relished this opportunity. It isn't surprising the Harper negotiations are at a stalemate.
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong but I am sure I saw a report at least a month ago and maybe longer that Reinsdorf would be leading all negotiations on these players. I think it was in reference to Harper at the time. JR gets off on negotiating. He always has. He does with the Bulls as well. This is probably his last best chance to sink his teeth into something substantive
  17. didn't he also either create or re popularize deferred money contracts in baseball?
  18. Fair, like when he tried to negotiate deals with Horace Grant and Scottie Pippen outside the presence of their agents He is shrewd.
  19. What did A Rod do when he was presented with the same situation? He took the money. Hopefully he does give Machado advice
