  1. Hopefully Smith and Narvaez develop well enough in year 2 that they feel they can wait and let Collins perfect his skills.
  2. I would be fine if I never heard the Sox and Astros speculated as trading partners again the future. The process with them is fatiguing.
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 15, 2017 -> 10:19 PM) Jerry gonna Jerry. Kenny has a lifetime deal because of 2005. wasn't it written in one of the post WS books that when JR was trying to convince KW's parents to forego Stanford by telling them that should he sign with the Sox he would have a job for life?
  4. You guys are about as fun as a sack of dead puppies. No, I do not really think the Sox will get Soto healthy and available before September 1.
  5. since my Clippard speculation ended up working, let's keep the momentum going on my luck Get him back playing and sell him off to the Cubs
  6. It appears that he has rebuilt some value with the help of Cooper. I assume he cleared waivers while things were not going well and that he is currently free to move. I expect to see him on another team before the deadline for being eligible for the playoffs. There are still teams out there who need bullpen help, like the Diamondbacks.
  7. when do teams begin to run players through waivers to test interest in an August trade? Is there some strategic reason the Sox would not have immediately sought to do so with Gonzalez, Holland, Pelphry and Clippard?
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 10:30 PM) Another Matt fan here? Cool. Two in the club. Good job Mr. Davidson. Another home run, 22, creeping u closer to 30 and another game-winning hit for a wretched ballclub. Since I've been convinced by the board that Matt is nothing, I looked up if he's already earned his MLB pension. Answer is yes. Good for matt. Rule says: "MLB players must play 43 days in the majors to earn a minimum $34,000 annual pension plan. Just one day in the majors gets them lifetime healthcare coverage. After 10 years in the big leagues, benefits grow to $100,000 annually." No matter what a free 34,000 a year and lifetime healthcare; not a bad start to go with his minimum salary of 500,000 or so. Keep it truckin Matt. Prove 'em all wrong. Count me in the Matt Batt-alion as well
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) Why would the Dodgers want Melky? I am not seeing the fit. I don't know. I'm just playing along with the hypothetical. I do think they could be a fit for Gonzalez.
  10. Gonzalez has given up two runs in 13.1 innings against two highly likely playoff teams. He gets a third this weekend with Cleveland. I think if he can throw another great game, he is going to be sought after by more than one team before Monday afternoon.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 12:14 PM) While probably a complete pipedream, where would Willie Calhoun play? We do have that Moncada guy over at 2B, and Calhoun is knocking at the doorstep. If trading with the Dodgers, what about one of their catchers? They have some redundancy there and while Will Smith was a high draft pick a couple of years ago, he's already been surpassed in rankings.
  12. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) Wow, is there a point where we say, "Enough is enough, we can let the big league team be TOO bad"? No. Last one out, turn off the lights.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised to see SD immediately try to peddle Wood to the Cubs. He was always pretty good for them out of the bullpen for this year and they have an empty spot in the rotation for him next year
  14. Shields will have value as a mentor to young pitchers next year
  15. I would bet Gonzalez would get that look before Holland. We are getting to the people that will only provide salary relief, which means nothing to us as fans
  16. I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox were able to move him for something, even salary relief over the next few weeks.
  17. I think the Sox will have an opportunity to draft Beer and choose someone else
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2017 -> 01:34 PM) Yeah, hopefully Rutherford turns into a "more athletic" David Justice or whatever. I understand why we would make the move. So onward we go to the Moncada Armada! Moan for Yoan!
  19. What are the most likely landing spots for Swarzak now?
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 13, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) Cease is kind of a wild last name. If he turns out to be dominant, some headlines Sox 'cease' to stink, ride new pitcher to pennant CEASE DE RESISTANCE: Sox Win Pennant New 'Cease' on life for White Sox 'Cease' the crying: Sox back on top, ride pitcher to first pennant since 2005 I like ELOyHIM
  21. Does this slow down Moncada's rise to the majors? There is no need for him to make the MLB roster coming out of spring training next year.
  22. QUOTE (whitesoxwinner @ Jul 12, 2017 -> 12:12 PM) Kahnle too. And I get that we need to sell sell sell...but if teams don't match the price on these guys then only a few of them might move this deadline. I would say trade Frazier for whatever you can get since he's a free agent after this season. Same with melky.
  23. That is the kind of loss I like: the young and/or tradable talent produced with the game blown by players who will not be on the team next year
  24. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 08:05 AM) Here's the weekly report on how the top 15 players (plus one bonus) have been performing. For most, the answer is, they've been doing quite well. But there were a couple on the rough side. Thank you for the work. Would it be possible to add the level the players are playing at next to their name or in the narrative for those of us who are more casual with our minor league knowledge?
