  1. That is the kind of loss I like: the young and/or tradable talent produced with the game blown by players who will not be on the team next year
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 2, 2017 -> 08:05 AM) Here's the weekly report on how the top 15 players (plus one bonus) have been performing. For most, the answer is, they've been doing quite well. But there were a couple on the rough side. Thank you for the work. Would it be possible to add the level the players are playing at next to their name or in the narrative for those of us who are more casual with our minor league knowledge?
  3. Why would anyone get angry over the opinion of a person regarding an international player when that person is not an international scout nor has never seen the player? He is talking outside of his area of expertise. I'm not sure why he would have even offered an opinion on the matter. I'm also not sure why he was asked for his opinion on the matter.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 12, 2017 -> 10:20 AM) I would even do something like Gonzalez and Swarzak for Candelario. Candelario has no place to play on the Cubs, but he'd be perfect for the Sox. He's tearing up AAA too. and he is no kid
  5. I don't think you can cut the legs out from under a team in first place in July should that unexpected joy be presented to us. Still, if Hahn got offers he couldn't refuse, I think everyone would understand. He isn't going to get those for many players. On the flip side, what do you do about acquiring players if they are in first place. I would hope they would be willing to acquire players where they are taking on salary but not trading a prospect.
  6. I hope he contributes to Archer not hitting the market of available pitchers at the trade deadline.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 25, 2017 -> 10:10 AM) The Cubs have no problem spending money on pitching or in the free agent market in general. while the bats were in their pre arbitration years and out of necessity
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2017 -> 02:02 PM) How excited do you think he is to give up guys like Happ, Jimenez, etc? As excited as he will be to pay either Arrietta or a guy like Arrietta $25 million over seven years.
  9. I, for the life of me, cannot figure out why the Cubs are not involved in discussions for Quintana. It just seems like such a great fit now and really smart long term budgeting for the future. Any prospect they give up would be duplicative of what they currently have cost controlled and performing at the MLB level. Meanwhile, adding Quintana takes all the bite out of Arrietta's demands that will most likely be in the $25 million per year range. I really do not know how a smart executive like Epstein doesn't see this.
  10. Instead of the three schmucks, you should name them the three putzes
