Minor League Deal per 670 the Score.
-
As long as he can hit, there will always be a spot for him on the roster. That goes for anyone.
-
I don’t know why, but the more I think about it, I really think he will get sent to the minors before getting the call up. I don’t know why, and I don’t know for how long, but it’s just a feeling I have.
-
I would expect Cease to arrive around the same time Kopech did last year.

Will Nick "The Little Magician" Madrigal be called up this year?
KnightsOnMintSt replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the further he gets is Charlotte, and that will he around July. -
So what do we think the odds are that Eloy still starts the season in the minors? Could he actually start in Charlotte, or is this talk of him starting in the minors a way to prove that they weren’t keeping him in the minors for the extra year of control?
-
Yep, I got the days mixed up. However, if they called him up for the home opener, he would never have played a game this season with the Knights, since the Sox season starts on March 28th. So my guess is either he starts with the White Sox, or he comes up around the same time we all thought he would anyway.
-
The Knights season does not start until after the White Sox home opener.
-
Love the deal. Love the idea of locking him up early, which hopefully makes him happy and it builds a good relationship. What I dont understand, and what I am hoping someone can explain to me is, what is the advantage of the White Sox doing this? We were already going to have him under control for 6 years.

I thought there was a chance Cease could start in Double-A. I’m glad that they already feel like he’s ready for Charlotte, even though he’s only pitched like 3 innings this spring.
-
I live in the Charlotte area, so I have the Knights, Dash and Intimidators all fairly close to where I live. Should be pretty exciting. Will get to see Cease and Collins, most likely pretty early in the season in Triple-A. Then hopefully Basabe, Robert, Madrigal, and Gonzalez later in the season.

Personal opinions on Sox rebuild pieces.

Dylan Cease is a guy that I am really looking forward to seeing pitch in AAA this season. He seems to have the potential for a June/July call-up (assuming he starts in Triple-A and not Double-A). I really think that we will see him elevate into the top 10 of prospect rankings by mid-season. Luis Gonzalez is a guy that I am really high on. Seems like he can do a little bit of everything. I am guessing he starts the season in Birmingham, and I am very interested to see him compete against that level. Eloy is going to be a star in this league, I have no doubt about that. Kopech, assuming there are no set backs from the injury, will be excellent for the White Sox. From what I can tell, he is one of the hardest workers in the game and I think this injury will only motivate him more to come out of the gate really strong in 2020. Luis Robert's potential is out of this world. I said it in another thread, but I think he could potentially follow the Ronald Acuna path by playing in three different levels his year. -
I think that Luis Robert has the ability to move through the system like Acuña did for the Braves. I’m guess Luis starts in Birmingham, then gets to Charlotte around July. Once you get to Charlotte, you’re just a phone call away from the big club.

Just got my Eloy jersey yesterday. Can’t wait for the season to start!

Eloy opening day if he earns it
KnightsOnMintSt replied to 103 mph screwball's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I dont think that anyone thought that getting Jay and Alonso guaranteed Machado, unless it was the tipping point (White Sox and Padres make identical offers). This idea is also not a guarantee. But could be smart when you're talking about a guy like Eloy. He has the potential to be one of the best players in baseball, and I want the White Sox to do anything they feel necessary to keep him with the team for as long as possible. -

I like the idea of starting Eloy with the White Sox if he earns it. Yeah the extra year of control would be nice, but doing this could really lead to a strong relationship between Eloy's camp and the White Sox FO. Yeah we lose the year of control, but maybe he is more likely to sign a team-friendly contract. Or other players see that and respect the FO for doing that, making some free agents more likely to play for the Sox. Plus, we're guaranteed to have Eloy on the roster during our potentially main contention window anyway. -
10-years, $300 million from Philly? Come on Hahn, 10-years, $330 million!
-
If the Phillies offer is not yet at $300 million, the Sox really need to jump in and make him an offer he can’t refuse.
-
Do I think it will happen? No. But they pretty much offered Manny $350 million with the stipulations, so I could see the Sox offering that, but just guaranteeing it.
-
Whats so interesting is that it seems to me like there are really only 2 realistic teams: Phillies and White Sox. Nats have said they're out. Yankees don't have the need. Cubs have said they're out multiple times. Dodgers signed Pollock and I believe it was reporter that they would not go above 10-years, $300 million. Padres COULD sign Harper, but will they commit $650 million to two players? To me that leaves the White Sox and Phillies, with the Giants being the dark horse. If Boras really is using the Phillies, my guess is that would mean the the Phillies offer is something like 10-years, $325 million, and they're trying to get $350 million out of the White Sox.
-
I really dont want to get my hopes up, but I could see us signing Harper. The White Sox offered Machado 10-years, $350 million IF he accomplished everything the White Sox wanted him to. With the marketability of Harper, I could see the White Sox making that $350 million guaranteed, instead of all the stipulations. To me, the bigger issue becomes if the Phillies are also willing to go $350 million, because I think he would choose Philly because of the win-now factor.
-
The only way that I see the Sox getting Harper is if all his offers are around 10-years, $300 million, and we blow him away with something like 10-years, $350 million.
