  1. I think that Machado's camp really needs to be careful. Harper's too, for that matter. We're starting to get to a point where there simply are just not very many teams left. I dont know how much leverage these agents have left. I doubt that the Hahn and Co. really see the Yankees as a threat, especially if they're only offering around 5-year, $160 million. And I dont think the Sox will really see the Phillies as a threat for Machado if they sign Harper. Regardless of where these guys sign, I dont think it will be with the same team. So if today it gets announced that the Phillies signed Harper to a 10-year, $325 million deal, the Machado camp loses so much leverage, because who would the players even be? A Yankees team that doesn't want to touch $200 million? A mystery team that has somehow managed to stay out of the news cycle for 2 months? One of these guys needs to bite, or they could be losing out on tens of millions of dollars.
  2. So do we think the reports from last night are actually bad for the Sox? Do we think those are leaks and they’re being used for leverage?
  3. Assuming he starts the season in Charlotte, I think we see him in Chicago by a August regardless.
  4. I don’t know if it happens today, but I feel like we hear some big news today that directly correlates with this. And that news will virtually indidcate if we get Machado or not.
  5. In terms of landing Machado, this Harper news could be HUGE.
  6. I wish I was capable of not checking this thread all day.
  7. The longer this drags on, the more I believe that the White Sox are being used as pawns by both Harper and Machado’s camp. Move never felt like we’ll get Harper, but I’ve been optimistic about Machado. Really feels like we’re being used to drive up offers though.
  8. I still believe this all hinges on the Phillies getting Harper. I think Harper has always been a pipe dream. Machado is very realistic. But if the Phillies miss on Harper, it’s all but guaranteed in my eyes that they will drop a monster offer to Machado’s camp. One that he cannot refuse.
  9. Thinking back on it, NotHahn was talking about Harper mainly it seemed. Maybe nothing even on the Machado front was even discussed.
  10. We're we hoping for good news on the possibility of getting both? Or is this saying we wont get either?
  11. I think that Harper would take a 12-year, $350 million deal. Like it's been mentioned before, the opt-outs will be interesting. But 12-year, $350 million provides him a contract until he is 38. Also in terms of total money given, I think that would be the largest contract in baseball history.
  12. I think that article sums up exactly how I felt when I heard the Yankees news yesterday. 1. If the Phillies get Harper, then I really believe the White Sox get Machado. 2. If the Phillies miss on Harper, I think the Phillies will back up the truck for Machado, making him an offer I don’t know if he can refuse.
  13. Anyone else afraid that if Harper goes back to the Nationals (or any team besides the Phillies) that the Phillies will just drop the motherload offer on Machado?
  14. Crazy to me that the Sox are still not getting mentioned in articles like this.
  15. This seems to imply that at the very least, the offer will be 7-year, $210 million. Something in the 8-year, $240 million range seems like what it will end up being.
  16. I’m not one to get overly optimistic, but this seems like a final effort by Machado’s camp to raise those offers. Bryce to the Phillies and Manny to the White Sox seems close to me. I personally don’t even think the Phillies are even that in on Manny anymore with their full attention seeming to be on Harper. I think this is a final push to exclusively elevate the Sox offer slightly. I could see the Sox being at 7-year, $230 million, and this is a final push to get them around 7-year, $250 million.
  17. If there was a way to find out how many times I’ve refreshed this thread, I would be scared to look because that number would be truly alarming.
  18. Andujar, Tulo, DJ, Didi, and Torres all on the roster already. Starting to feel more optimistic. Really seems like it’s starting to be Harper to the Phillies and Machado to the White Sox.
  19. I’m very pleased with his time in the minors. If he can get on base at well over a .300 clip, that’s exactly what the White Sox need. Madrigal at the top of the lineup getting on base, with Robert, Abreu, Jimenez and possibly Machado following him in the lineup, that sounds pretty amazing.
  20. He hit over .300 in Low-A and High-A. He wasn’t drafted for power. He was drafted to hit atop the lineup and get on base. I think we can see Madrigal this year because in his short stint in the minors, he has done that so far.
  21. Hello, everyone. Here’s to more good news today!
  22. Well, doesn’t seem like anything else will happen tonight. See you guys tomorrow.
