  1. But the Sox could offer the 7-year, $245 million with an opt out after 4 years, making him a FA at the age of 30.
  2. If we can't land Machado, I would like to see the Sox add Moose and Pollock. Maybe lock in another starter as well.
  3. The main reason that I think that he would choose the White Sox in this scenario is because of guaranteed money. He knows that he would be set until 33 making $35 million a year. Then he could probably get one more decent contract after that. Also, assuming the opt outs are all similar, it wouldn't really matter which offer he took but the Sox would provide the most security.
  4. In that exact scenario I would say that he chooses the White Sox.
  5. Alonso was interesting, signing Jay as well really seemed to tip the scales, it seems.
  6. I feel like there hasn't been a ton of smoke around Machado to NY in the last couple of days. I really think that the Yankees are standing pat with a 7-year offer at about $150 million to $200 million. However, the Sox and Phillies probably have offers at about 7-year, $200 million to 7-year, $250 million, and at this point, Machado is just trying to decide how much money it would truly take to not get him to sign with the Yankees. Is it $30 million, $40 million, $50 million...
  7. A gentleman by the name of Ernesto Jerez, who works for ESPN, seems to be saying that Machado to the Yankees is all but complete.
  8. Really starting to feel like something is going to happen this week.
  9. Not sure on the percentages, but I think the White Sox have a very solid chance. The fact that we can offer so much money puts us right up there. Combine that with friends on the team, and a team that will be very competitive very soon, the White Sox are a very attractive option.
  10. I dont know why, and I dont want to jinx it, but I am starting to feel like Machado will not be a Yankee. Not necessarily saying that he signs with the Sox, but I think the Yankees top offer will be 7-years, $200 million, and he'll ultimately sign for something like 8-years, $270 million. That just seems like a ton of money for anyone to leave on the table.
  11. I haven't been able to check the board as much as usual today. Have I missed anything?
  12. 6 pages already... Really starting to feel like a Machado move could be coming soon.
  13. So what do we think? Yankees probably at the 5-year, $150 million mark? $30 million per year seems like a good offer? Do we think 7-year, $210 million gets it done, or do we need to go with a big 10-year offer still?
  14. Red Line Radio, which I believe WSD runs, just tweeted this out as well.
  15. He did send out another tweet asking if anyone had pictures. Seems like he himself is trying to confirm.
  16. I just feel like if he was so set on signing with the Yankees, it would've happened already. Not to say that he wont sign with New York, I just dont think its as much of a sure thing as everyone thinks.
  17. I disagree. Everyone seems to think that Machado to the Yankees is a lock. But it’s strange if he’s a lock, but continues to not sign with NY each day. And every day that he doesn’t sign with the Yankees means he’s considering the White Sox more and more.
  18. The longer Machado doesn't sign, the better I tend to think that is for the Sox. Anyone agree?
  19. I think the Sox already have a good offer. Like someone else suggested, $230 million over 7 years still puts him over $32 million per season. And honestly might be better than a 10-year, $300 million deal. Yeah, the 10-year deal is safer, but the 7-year deal provides him a chance for another huge contract. I really believe the offers have been made, and for him he’s just deciding how much playing for the Yankees, his childhood team, is worth to him.
  20. I wouldn't say the offers are low. Both those offers are still right at about $32 million per year. Which could set up Machado perfectly for another big contract afterwards.
  21. Have to think at this point the offers are just so underwhelming. Such high expectations coming into this off season, and now the offers seem so much less. I would imagine if the Yankees were even close to what we thought the offers would be, he would've already signed. Really curious to see the final numbers.
  22. Not a confirmed offer, just me trying to piece together things I’ve heard, combined with my opinion. I think the offers for Machado are far less than what we expected. For some reason I think that $200 million is the most they’ll offer for Machado, because they have all the leverage. They already have a really good left side of the infield. Yes, any team gets better adding Machado. However, they were a 100-win team last year, they don’t need him as much as the White Sox, and I think that will be shown in the offer from New York.
