  1. I'm sure there have been threads like this before, but I thought it would be fun to break away from the FA conversation for a little bit. Here's mine: 1. Paul Konerko 2. Magglio Ordonez 3. Mark Buehrle 4. Frank Thomas 5. Jose Abreu Honorable Mentions: Scott Podsednik, Jon Garland, Jermaine Dye, A.J. Pierzynski, Joe Crede, and Jim Thome.
  2. This seems to be our chance to really blow him away with an offer that I dont know if the Yankees make.
  3. Starting to get the feeling, as some in the media have mentioned, that the offers for Harper are just not what they were expecting at all. I believe that Boras was thinking that the top offers would be in the 10-year, $400 million to 12-year, $424 Million, and that is simply just not happening. There seems to be so few teams in the running, that I dont think they feel like they need to bid against themselves. If I had to guess, I would say that the best offer as of right now is probably 10-year, $300 million to 10-year, $325 million.
  4. But lets say the White Sox and Phillies offer the same amount. People are acting like signing with the Sox would ruin his career while signing with Philly is a great move.
  5. What I find interesting, why is the idea of Harper going to the White Sox so crazy but Harper going to the Phillies is normal?
  6. When you’re potentially going to give a guy $40 million a year, I’m sure you ask any and every question you can think of haha.
  7. Here is something that I have been thinking a lot about lately. Serious question: Assuming the offers are the same, why would Harper choose the Phillies over the White Sox? Trying to take my bias out, it seems like signing with the Sox would be a no-brainer. Same money, easier division to compete in, better hitters ballpark, and mire up and coming players. What am I missing?
  8. Hey everyone, I wanted to do a random contest to connect with some White Sox fans! I recently picked up the hobby of collecting autographs from players through the mail. I have two autographed photos from Daniel Palka, and I would like to give one away! So let’s do this: If Bryce Harper signs with the White Sox, guess the years and amount of money (example 10-year, $350 million). Send me a DM with an answer!
  9. Add a couple of guys on short deals. Let the young guys play like last year.
  10. I'm probably being impatient, but it has gone from excitement to "this just doesn't seem meant to be." On the bright side, a lot of things seem to be going in the Sox favor in terms of locking him down (I believe the Yankees and Phillies are out, that's just what seems like has happened so far). The Cubs dont worry me until they move some payroll, but I think if Harper had to choose right now, he would pick the Dodgers. My educated guess is that Boras is doing everything in his power so that the Dodgers up their offer from something like 10-year, $300 million to 10-year, $350-million.
  11. I like seeing this announced early this morning. Hopefully it gets the ball rolling.
  12. I don’t know how much longer I can handle this. Constantly refreshing this site and Twitter has become very tiring. Hopefully we get some good news today.
  13. News wise, yes. But I think Philly has been pretty much eliminated from contention, and I think that’s pretty big. Especially because it seems like the Yankees are out, too. And those are probably the two teams most people would’ve predicted Harper would go to.
  14. Seems like the talk has kind of wind down for the night. I said the same thing this morning, but based off all the reports we’ve heard today, plus some signings that happened, I still feel like the White Sox are in an excellent position for Harper.
  15. I feel like my opinion changes every hour, but I am becoming more and more worried about the Dodgers. They don’t mind spending. They seem willing to trade guys. We also haven’t really heard much about the Dodgers and their pursuit, making me feel like they’re just ready to pounce. LA seems like the favorite to me as of right now.
  16. Do the Dodgers realistically have any big contracts they need to move before signing Harper, or is the bigger issue they just have a lot of outfielders that would need to be moved?
  17. That doesn’t say they’re out. It actually kind of proved my point. Let’s say Dodgers are willing to go 10-year, $300 million, but the Sox go 10-year, $350 million. Would he take the lower offer to be on the better team, or take the best offer?
