  1. Not with this pitching staff. Outside of 2017 I don’t ever recall a worse Sox starting staff in my 40 years of following the team.
  2. This is a better question … At this point I’m neutral or slightly pulling for the opponent. This management needs to be humiliated, just like Lawrence Holmes talked about in his rant last year. It doesn’t help that none of the guys on this team are likable, except maybe for Burger. I see Roberts jogging down the first base line and find myself rooting for the Rays in the first inning.
  3. Winning the division (not that it will actually happen) would be about the worst thing to happen to the fans. It would buy the management more time, they would suck more money from the fans, and the team would get humiliated in the first round of the playoffs. Plus, players that do need to get traded would end up sticking around.
  4. I knew this would happen once they won a game. The players on this team suck. They have no pitching and I’m not sure that Cease wasn’t a one year wonder. Lynn will continue to get shelled despite his good six innings the other night. Giolito too. They have no bullpen. They be closer to the Royals than the top. Don’t do this to yourselves.
  5. Probable. This game was a disaster. He’s gonna ride this till at least October.
  6. Great. They just saved Hahns job for the season.
  7. I truthfully thought they would not be very good. Im surprised Giolito had the success that he did.
  8. Yeah, it’s not the highlight of our days watching you lose, kid.
  9. Yeah but mathematically over 45 years with 26, 28, then 30 teams he should have won one by pure chance and appeared in a second World Series. In that time Minnesota won twice, Kansas City won twice and appeared three times, Cleveland appeared three times, Detroit twice. Not to mention franchises that didn’t even exist when he bought - Florida twice, Arizona once, Tampa Bay with 1.5 appearances, Colorado with an appearance. I won’t give him credit for something a monkey could have been trained to do. The one year they won was by pure luck anyway. They weren’t on anybody’s radar screen that year and no one got hurt. It was not by design. I still wish DeBartolo would have bought the team.
  10. Yes this season should be a monument to their incompetence. Isn't Reinsdorf in Arizona full time? At his age I wonder how aware he actually is. He may have no clue what’s going on. Maybe they give him 2005 newspapers every day and he wakes up and is happy his team is in first place.
  11. You can’t even count 2020. It was extended spring training.
  12. I agree. This team doesn’t show up ready to play. They show up ready to take it up the rear end again and again and again. I don’t have TV any more so I get most of my Sox info on the radio or reading the box score. I will check the score about 20 minutes after game start and it’s at the point where I’m surprised if they aren’t down 4-0. Time to get rid of Grifol and hire the next Scapegoat.
  13. They get most of their money from TV nowadays. They don’t care about in person attendance.
  14. It’s worse than that. What kid in his right mind would grow up a Sox fan? They had one good season that was an outlier, outside the trend of less than mediocrity that has been the staple of this franchise the last decade and a half. If I were a kid growing up now I’d never be a Cubs fan but I could see growing up rooting for the Brewers or the Cardinals. The Sox wouldn’t be on my radar screen.
  15. I’ve never spoken six minutes uninterrupted in my entire life.
  16. At this point I think it’s worse than the rebuilding years. This is worse than the Fregosi era.
  17. Yeah I’m not sure you can say they’ve “survived”. Yes they still happen to exist as an organization. But we were told, by regular commenters on here and in the media, that this would be a resurgence and they would rival the Cubs in terms of popularity. Does anyone seriously see that happening? Heck the Brewers might be more popular in Chicago than the Sox. Also they didn’t piss on their fan base in the previous down times like they do today.
  18. Doesn’t Abreu start slow literally every year?
  19. Not only defend … they actively attacked anyone who said, early on, “Hey, maybe these guys don’t look as good as you may think.” It was on the verge of turning into WSI in 2018-2019.
  20. I think the point is that these players Hahn acquired were never as good as advertised or hoped for. I’m not sure that they succeed with another organization.
