I understand the patience on waiting for a prospect to acclimate to the Bigs. It takes time usually, especially with a jump from AA. But God damn wouldn't it be nice for him to light it up from the jump. We could really use that.

Congrats and good luck! Do you know what you're having? I have two daughters, 19 months and 2 months. My only advice is to work as a team with your wife (yes I just assumed your gender and marital status). There will be stressful days and especially nights. You'll get through it. Remember that you're in it together and this is a happy time despite the many frustrations that will surely come. As bmags said, you'll know what you need when it happens. Every kid is different so any specific advice I could offer about clothes, toys, sleep tips, etc. might be useless for you. Cherish this time as they are only little once!

Well said. Term limits are something I'm in favor of that would help fix the problem you described. Don't let the imperfect system discourage you from voting, though.

It's no surprise that Illinois, New York, California are experiencing mass exodus. These states and their major cities are run by incompetent leaders who have no interest in doing what's right for their people. Have you seen the stats of how many Chicago cops have left the force in the last handful of years. Really troublesome.

Hard to believe that the midterms are only just over 4 months away. I'm curious as to how big of a Red Wave we'll see in November. All indications are that a Red Wave is coming, but there is room for debate regarding just how big it'll be. It's very common for first term presidents to lose seats in the midterms and with the Dems holding slim majorities in both the House and Senate, we are very likely to see the GOP control both after the midterms. But how devastating will it be for the democrats? With Biden's abysmal approval ratings and the economic landscape, it's easy to see how things look dim for the democrats. That's likely why they are still clinging to the Jan 6 narrative 18 months later. It's the biggest bullet in their chamber but how big of a punch will it pack at the voting booths? Time will tell, I suppose. I haven't taken a deep enough look at which seats are being contested in November and how that may shape the House and Senate after the midterms but my overall feeling is that the GOP will make enough gains in both to take control. 2022 Red Wave is very much alive, in my opinion. How do you see it playing out and what factors do you think will carry the most weight?

Funny, my nieces and nephews go to school every day without fear. I guess school shootings don't exist. Your anecdotal evidence of fear is no indication of the reality of crime in chicago.

Are people in this thread actually acting like crime isn't a problem in Chicago? Two things can be true at the same time: 1. Crime in Chicago is out of control and there's no signs of it getting better 2. You can walk around the city without looking over your shoulder at all times. Just because you aren't getting mugged on the reg, does not mean crime isn't a massive issue the city needs to address.

The Sox aren't calling up Sosa to let him dick around and try to learn the OF in the big leagues. He'll be playing 2B everyday.
