2022 College Football Season
KrankinSox replied to CentralChamps21's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I think Petras is a problem but there also isn't an in-house solution. Padilla is not good either. Labas must be far behind as well. Doesn't excuse Brian Ferentz though. -
Well this is interesting...
-
So unbelievably ignorant. Not surprising coming from Bernstein. Definition of the guy who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room but is far from it.
-
Sounds like Civale is close to returning. Rehab start tomorrow. He sucks but it's another arm to factor in.
-
If Minnesota can get their s%*# together, they have a good shot to take 3 of 5 vs Cleveland. With a doubleheader in there the Guardians are slated to start 3 starters who normally wouldn't be in their rotation. Bieber Friday, Quantrill Monday. Sandwiched around Pilkington, Morris, and a TBD.

Brian Ferentz needs to go as well. Disgusting to waste a defense this talented with the complete ineptitude on offense. -

MC has outscored their three opponents by a total score of 121-3. That includes ranked teams Notre Dame and St Rita. They are a force to be reckoned with. -
Yes but really its the Naylor grand slam game and the Engel dropped pop up in Baltimore. Tied in the standings if we win those two games.
-
4-4 after a Trout 2r HR ties it!
-
Cleveland already up 3-0 in the 2nd.
-
Momentum is only as good as your next day's starting pitcher. Cleveland basically has 3 reliable SPs right now in Bieber, Quantrill, and McKenzie with Plesac and Civale on the IL. All 3 of them pitched this weekend vs. Minnesota. They are also in a stretch of 18 games in 17 days, so they won't be able to skip the back 2 pitchers at all. Sox need to take 3 or 4 out of the 4 vs Cleveland and the Guardians need to lose a large percentage of the games where their lesser pitchers are starting. Sox need to stay hot as well and beat up on the Rockies and Tigers. That's the formula for winning this division.

If you think Tony's lineups are bad because of his own ball playing abilities, you're wrong. That's my point
-
Fine make that argument all you want. But to suggest Tony can't manage because of his own baseball playing abilities is a nonsense take. Agree?
-
You think Tony doesn't understand lineups because he was a lousy ballplayer? Yet he's managed 3 world series teams. This is why the majority of Tony takes are laughable at best.
-
He's got a 10,000 square foot house in Scottsdale, AZ. He doesn't need politics!
-
Fair enough. I'll try to be more "grounded".
-
One more thing on this topic. Is calling me "full of s%*#" considered a personal attack? I've been told that personal attacks are a no-no. Please review the board rules. Also, there is someone talking politics in the game thread. Slap a ban on him, please! Rules are rules.

Everyone acting like the Sox are fixed again because Tony is gone is a pretty clear indication they think he's the one and only problem. They literally think we are hitting more home runs because Tony left the team lol.

That's a White Sox 5 run 9th Winner !!

Need to line up Cease to pitch in 2 of those games. -
I couldn't care less if the manager is Tony, Cairo, Ozzie, Aj Pierzynski, etc. If Tony is gone next season, fine by me. I dont think Tony has done a particularly "good" job as Sox manager. He hasn't done anything to push them over the top. However. I think the notion that he is fully responsible for the team's struggles this year is beyond ridiculous. There are plenty of reasons the Sox have struggled and they don't fall squarely on Tony's shoulders. Should the Sox fail to do anything special this season and Tony is fired/retired then so be it. That's sports. Mangers and coaches get the axe all the time. The majority of the fanbase had their mind made up about Tony the moment he was hired. They didn't like him. Whether it was for being too old, being drunk, or being "racist". People didn't like him and the team sucking the majority of this season was validation for their predetermined disdain for Tony. Tony got pretty much all he could out of the roster last season. Pitching fell apart and the Stros were the better team. Tip your cap. This season has been a huge disappointment. And the current hot steak without Tony has been fun and I hope it continues all the way through the playoffs, with or without Tony. However, correlation does not equal causation. If Tony comes back, the Sox aren't going to magically collapse because of him. If he comes back and they win the whole thing, it's also not all because of Tony. This org/team has many facets that deserve praise or scorn for winning or losing and Tony gets an undeserving amount of the scorn in my opinion.
