Election integrity is a big issue in this country, especially since we have 50 states + DC, all with their own independent election laws. Both the 2016 and 2020 Elections were publicly questioned, whether it was Democrats claiming Trump worked with Russia in 2016 or in 2020 the claims from Trump's side claiming fraud with mail-in ballots and electronic voting devices. I see this bill as a measure to secure elections in the US. Voter ID laws, despite claims of the left, are not "voter suppression". The MLB is free to do as they choose but this is similar to the NBA overreacting to bathroom laws in NC a few years ago. These leagues typically cave to public pressure, and quite frankly, so do most public figures who get caught in some sort up political windstorm. Delta, for example, requires ID to board a plane but their chairman seems to have an issue with voters being required to provide ID. Go Figure. Unfortunately, this is the way of our country in 2021, but so be it.

What we learned from Opening Day

Meh. I agree 1 game overreactions aren't fair but Madrigal's defense is becoming a pattern. This was supposed to be a pro-ready draft pick who could run the bases, play defense, and hit for average. So far he hasn't shown any ability to run the bases or play defense. Still rooting for the kid, obviously, but I just don't think he's as good as many thought on draft day. -

ELOY HURT! (3/25 Update: Torn Pectoral Tendon, Out 5-6 months))

In my completely uneducated knowledge of this, I'd guess Pec. Shoulder injuries for baseball players are never good. Even on a non-throwing arm. -
2-6 weeks?

The 2005 DVD set includes the clinching game from the ALDS, ALCS, and all four World Series games I believe.

Not that it really matters, but is it possible we outdraw the Cubs this season? Here's my logic: If both stadiums are at the same limited capacity for the first few months of the season, then it's possible both teams are "selling out" every game at the limited 8k or so fans to start. Then, later in the season, if both stadiums are at full capacity or close to it, it's possible we could be outdrawing the Cubs in August/September if we are in the pennant race and they are faltering. -

Lightfoot officially announced fans will be present at Opening Day, but did not provide a % capacity. I'm guessing it will be about 25% -
I know this may be hard to believe, but just because things have happened a certain way in the past, does not mean they will happen that same exact way in the future.

Stfu about TLR. Not every thread needs to turn into a TLR bitchfest.

Mariners president and CEO Kevin Mather's Zoom Call

Any thread that starts by quoting Keith Olbermann is pretty much a waste of all of our brain cells. -
And then he started clicking again going into the playoffs. Do you remember his 480+ foot blast in Game 3?

Hilarious how they treat it as affirmation of their negative outlook. "Yep, see, projections say we stink so we obviously didn't do enough. If we happen to be good because the young players progress, then that's lucky, but it has nothing to do with the way our front office assembled the team."

Wait, there's people on this board who still think we might sign Bauer? Wtf -
Are you suggesting it's too late for Moncada to put up an .850 4.8 war season? Because PECOTA says so?
-
Too late? As in like when he did it 15 months ago?

Exactly. Stafford was probably worth one 1st and a 3rd. Rams gave up an additional 1st to get rid of Goff's contract.

Putrid is a little harsh. Keuchel and Grandal have worked out so far. McCann was a great find. The Narvaez-Colome trade was a win. Yes, I'm aware of Alonso, Encarnacion, Jon Jay, etc. But it hasn't been ALL bad.

We have an in-house replacement with Vaughn though. If we sign Cruz to a 1-year deal and he falls off a cliff, there isn't a ton of downside. We'd just be back to where we are now: hoping Vaughn rakes as a rookie.
