AJ Hinch: does it matter to you that he cheated?
KrankinSox replied to Kyyle23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I want everyone who is voting "absolute deal breaker. will not follow the team if he is hired" to name themselves in this thread and actually leave the board when he's hired in a couple of weeks. Thanks. -
Hell NO

Sox Press Conference - 11am 10/12 - RR out as Sox manager
KrankinSox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Things I'm looking forward to hearing about: 1) Crochet injury 2) Ricky's status 3) Hahn's overall tone about upcoming offseason plans -
Just because Haeger may be a scumbag who harassed and eventually murdered a woman, doesn't mean suicide comments are ok. Sure, you may think he deserves to die, I won't even argue that. But a lot of INNOCENT people die because of suicide. People experiencing depression or other problems. So making light of suicide with a comment like that is not cool.

Are Dunning and/or Cease Slotted into the 2021 Starting Rotation?
KrankinSox replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If the Sox can sign a top level starting pitcher (Bauer or Stroman), I would use Dunning or Cease in a trade to improve the team elsewhere (right field). I'd sign a cheap, veteran back end of the rotation guy as well. This free agent can serve as a long reliever and spot starter. Go into the season with the following: Giolito Free Agent Keuchel Kopech Cease/Dunning Free Agent #2 Stiever/Lambert/Lopez/Etc. -
Sox @ A’s - Wildcard Game 3 - 2:10

Have a feeling we're going to need Carlos Rodon today -
Don't think they'll make the lefty mistake again so I expect Fiers as well. Fiers is much more hittable than Bassitt. I expect him to have a short leash and I expect the Sox to get to him. With Hendriks throwing 49 pitches today, I like our chances tomorrow regardless of who we start. Our pen is fresh.

Any idea who the A's are gonna throw tomorrow?
-
This is the direction I would go, except I wouldn't use Rodon.

Yes

It's obvious at this point that Cishek is a reader of this board and doesn't have any real sources. He just reads what people are speculating about on here and pretends he has sources.

9/27 GT: Cubs @ Sox (2:10pm)

Jack Parkman also told us there would be no baseball until at least 2023. So his claim of maybe 25% capacity next season is to be taken with a major grain of salt. There are a lot of unknowns about the future with this pandemic, but the idea that next April 25% capacity is a best case scenario is laughable, considering football stadiums are already allowing fans. Count me in as optimistic that next season will be much closer to 'normal' than not.

Regarding Bummer and Rodon: Hahn said both are possible to return on the road trip, they just need to clear a couple of 'hurdles'. Bummer seems to be closer as he is in Cincy with the team already. Regarding postseason eligibility for Crochet: Can anyone say for sure what the ruling is here? I imagine he is definitely eligible or else the Sox wouldn't have made this move.

Long time for Mize to be sitting cold in the bench. Don't be surprised if Sox get to him in the bottom of the 6th

CANCEL Not Steve Cishek!! This guy has used speculation to guess and happened to have been correct a few times on Sox moves. But this deadline proves he's full of it. Stop sharing his posts.

If you can get Woodruff and Hader, you do it. I don't think that trade is a real possibility but if it were real, the Sox should absolutely do that. -

I'd be fine with shipping off Adolfo in a trade. As a headliner in a deal, he won't get us much in return though. -

I'm gonna cry -
Also this is the type of guy Mazara should have success against. He really hasn't made any hard contact yet this season so tonight would be a good time for him to figure it out.
-
I'm expecting lots of runs from the Sox tonight. As long as Gio doesn't implode, I feel good about this one. I admittedly don't know much about Lindblom for the Brewers but I see that he debuted in MLB in 2011 and has only pitched 14 innings in the Bigs since 2013, while spending most of that time in Korea. Light him up.

If Colome struggles, I think you give Heuer a shot at closing before trading for anybody. I'm not anticipating any major trades this season for the Sox.
-
The offense gets a ton of credit as the strength of this team, rightfully so, as it has been excellent this season. However, the bullpen has quietly been the unsung hero of this team so far. They've pitched a lot of innings as the starters haven't gone deep in many games. Outside of the Minnesota series, they've kept every game close. Heuer looks filthy and may be a late inning guy on this team for years to come. Bummer continues his dominance. Detwiler has been unhittable. Evan Marshall looks like a new pitcher. Matt Foster and Jimmy Cordero have looked good. Colomé has made things interesting but continues to get the job done and close out games. The one guy I've been disappointed in is Steve Cishek but if he lives up to his track record, there should be improvement from him. This is also a bullpen that lost Jimmy Lambert and started with Gio Gonzalez as a long man before being forced into the rotation due to injury. Can't forget that depending on how the Sox want to handle him and how he looks in Schaumburg, we could see Garrett Crochet coming out of the pen this season. With the battle of bullpens being a major factor in postseason play, I think the Sox bullpen could prove to be a major asset this season.
