f*** the haters.

Save situations:

He's 23/25. Just 3 earned runs, ERA of 1.04. WHIP of 1.00, opponents hitting .187/.257/.242/.499 (so much for that always making it interesting bulls*** too). 11.1 k/9

ERA of 8.71 in non save situations but hey, that's not why we pay him the big bucks.

Stop the hate. You're wrong.

Just confirms my thoughts that he should not be used outside of save situations. Every time Robin throws him in there in those situations, he seems to give up runs.

But some pitchers need periodic work. Maybe Robertson is one of them. If a week goes by w/o a save opportunity, it may be out of necessity he ends up getting used.

Since we're playing the SV/SVO card, how does that excuse 2015?

You have to go all the way down to Fernando Rodney at #31 in total saves to find ANYONE in the top 30 with SEVEN blown saves. Robertson is all alone right there in that category.

You can blame the Sox defense all you want, but he hasn't been one of the Top 5 or even Top 10 closers in all of baseball since we signed him. By salary we should be getting ELITE.

Last year I thought he didn't play up to expecations...

This year he has been up and down a little bit.. but great in save situations.

Last year was different...

Has someone sent the memo to Ventura?

The problem is that as abysmal as he has been in non-save situations, who does he have that he can trust outside of Jones/Duke and possibly Jennings right now (with a 4 run lead)?

Closers have to pitch in non-save situations at time. Sometimes, they need work if they have not pitched in three days. Sometimes, you need them in a tie game in the 9th inning. Sometimes, you need them in extra innings. But very interesting statistics.

Don't like splitting the numbers by save and non-save situations. He's paid to pitch well, period, and as caulfield brought up, if you did this for last year when he blew all those saves then it's probably a different story.

He's been fine again this year, but if some team wanted to take that contract away I would listen to them.

s*** happens on a regular basis to the 2016 White Sox.. yet the status quo remains. the sun will rise tomorrow and the happy bunch will all remain employed...

but thank God there's a manager and pitching coaching, AND a BP coach, with their finger on the pulse of the situation, putting their rusty closer in the best possible situation to succeed
