southsider2k5
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) This is why I keep gushing about that pick. A few years ago looking at Rodon, Fulmer and Hansen in three straight drafts would have seemed damn near improbably for where the Sox picked. Add that to the fact the Sox do develop pitchers. If we had drafted the hitter equivalent of Hansen, I would be really worried, and fairly disappointed because I have no faith in them to develop the pick. But with a pitcher, I have a whole lot more optimism. Obviously we have to wait and see what happens, but at the end of the day, you can't teach that arm. bmags
Honestly kind of amazed that that's what the AZL stadiums look like.
Quin
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Honestly kind of amazed that that's what the AZL stadiums look like. Some of them. The Sox AZL team plays at Camelback Ranch, which is gorgeous.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) Some of them. The Sox AZL team plays at Camelback Ranch, which is gorgeous. Actually, they play most games on a back field - as do other AZL teams. So they have nice stadiums but rarely use them for the AZL games. bmags
Are they open to public? Just a small set of bleachers for scouts?

GreenSox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) Add that to the fact the Sox do develop pitchers. Like whom? Rodon? #3 pick in the draft? I would hope so, and he's a bit stunted anyway. Why are they having to scramble for 2 spots in the rotation and the last 2 spots in the pen (and the first 5 spots in the pen aren't filled wit Sox developed players, except for Jones). The drafts appear to be better (although still too many bullpen pitchers, ). they've done better developing position players lately, really. NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) Are they open to public? Just a small set of bleachers for scouts? Depends on the team. Generally yes, they are, but they make it sort of difficult to get to. Kim Contreras wrote an AZL primer a couple-few years ago that gives you the details (and she updates it yearly). Here is the link to it.
Heads22
I checked out the back fields this spring. There's really not much seating or anything for fans, but the fields are well manicured. BTW, if you ever get a chance to go to Camelback for spring training, do it.
