southsider2k5
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) At the same time, the libertarian party's domestic and foreign policy platforms aren't exactly mainstream either. Honestly I think small government and non-intervention are more popular than you think, especially after the last decade.
StrangeSox
I know, but the thrust of the article and of ss2k5's post was that the Democrats and Republicans have abandoned the center/mainstream.

And I don't think there is any question that both parties have lurched to their wings.

farmteam
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 02:04 PM) And I don't think there is any question that both parties have lurched to their wings. At first blush, that seems to be much more the case for the GOP than the dems, at least at a national level. Otherwise I'd think you'd see more far left candidates upsetting entrenched candidates in democratic primaries like you have on the right.

StrangeSox
It's too bad that the Tribune didn't use their platform to push for some electoral reforms that could actually give third parties a chance.
