YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!
Burns was just designated by Oakland today. He's still fairly young, has elite speed, and is a solid defender. What do you guys think? Should the Sox try and make a move for him? I think he'd be better than Shuck in CF.
Springfield Soxfan
Yes, all in. Sox need a true defensive CF.

Boopa1219
Yes, imagine a line up leading off with Anderson and Eaton that was Burns in the 9 hole. That's a lot of speed, imagine being a pitcher and having to have off against Burns, Eaton and Anderson.
YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 05:35 PM) He was optioned not dfa Couldn't the Sox still trade for him? A Burns, Anderson, and Eaton trio would create havoc on the bases.

daggins
Burns' hitting cratered this season. He may not be toast but he has no power and his MiLB numbers don't exactly inspire confidence. A guy who actually was designated was Nick Tepesch, who could give the Sox more depth. He's better than, like, Chris Volstad.

Yeah I don't get why people would want to make the offense worse.

chw42
Yes please. We need someone like him until Jackson comes back.
BlackSox13
Avi for Burns sounds like a fair swap to me. Both could be the change of scenery candidates.

Is there anyway Avi doesn't get non-tendered in the off season? Why would anybody trade for him?

Why would anybody trade for him? Same could be said about Burns which is why I mentioned an Avi for Burns swap. That doesn't mean Oakland would be interested, just an idea. At some point you have to hit the ball out of the infield, that's why all these speedsteers can't stay on a MLB roster.
greg775
If Britt Burns had won Game Four vs. the O's the Sox were a lock for the WS with an automatic Game Five home victory behind LaMarr Hoyt. One of the biggest chokes in Sox history not scoring one run in 9 innings and losing in 10 on the Oriole homer.
