Lillian
Did I miss something? I don't see any thread discussing this: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/191...for-chris-sale/ The articles speculated that the Sox would want Profar and Gallo. What would you consider a fair return for Sale?
daggins
Check the trade winds, yo. It's gonna be the hot spot for the next 9 or so days.

SCCWS
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:46 AM) Oh, I'm sorry. I couldn't imagine. Thanks If Olney was correct and Sox already turned down a "King's Ransom" for Sale, then he will not be traded regardless of offer. I agree w that strategy. Panerista
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) If Olney was correct and Sox already turned down a "King's Ransom" for Sale, then he will not be traded regardless of offer. I agree w that strategy. If the offers escalate as the deadline approaches, it could get to the point where Hahn has to move one of Sale or Q for the future of the organization. BigHurt3515
If Mazara isn't in a deal for Sale, what is the point?
flavum
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:10 AM) If Mazara isn't in a deal for Sale, what is the point? Agree with that. At this point, it looks like Quintana is getting traded if they hear the right thing, and a few other guys. Sale is too valuable to move right now. Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) Agree with that. At this point, it looks like Quintana is getting traded if they hear the right thing, and a few other guys. Sale is too valuable to move right now. In my opinion, Quintana should be just as valuable. Owed even less money than Sale and has one more year of control than Sale.
TheFutureIsNear
I would take Gallo, Profar, Brinson and at least 1 of Dillon Tate, or Matuella for Q....I'm sure most wouldn't but I'm not sure how many other teams are making better offers. Boston and Houston are probably the only 2 teams that could in my opinion.

GreenSox
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) If Olney was correct and Sox already turned down a "King's Ransom" for Sale, then he will not be traded regardless of offer. I agree w that strategy. I suspect that a "king's ransom" was never offered; just some FO guy termed a mediocre offer that.

SCCWS
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 10:41 AM) In my opinion, Quintana should be just as valuable. Owed even less money than Sale and has one more year of control than Sale. No way. Q might be 60-75% of Sales's value. But I am convinced Sale is an untouchable for this front office. Probably makes sense since most teams based on what they could/would offer would not be bidders.
fathom
Saw an article where teams are asking for Odor in trades
tray
No way I would trade Sale or Quintana. I might trade Fulmer after seeing hm pitch in the few games he has been in. Not sure why he needs all the French pastry in his wind-up but maybe that is detracting from his body control and consistency in locating pitches. The Sox put up the white flag for this season, but April 2017 is a long way off in baseball terms. A lot can be done to improve the team between now and then including changing the Manager and coaching staff. There may be some less obvious opportunities for a trade out there. The Nationals need an outfielder and bullpen help. I'd offer Melky and Duke (or Robertson) for Trea Turner.
harkness99
I'm sure they are listening.. but it would l take levels of talent or production that teams probably will not give up. And that's what it should take. Some talented prospects are not enough for Chris Sale.. you need at least some proof of MLB production. Odor would have to be at minimum part of the package. kitekrazy
QUOTE (Lillian @ Jul 23, 2016 -> 07:26 AM) Did I miss something? What would you consider a fair return for Sale? I caught this. Twins fire GM Terry Ryan: Though the Twins have badly struggled in recent years, it was still a bit of a surprise to see the team part ways with the longtime general manager given how Ryan has been such a key figure in franchise history. Assistant GM Rob Antony will take over the top job on an interim basis while Minnesota will immediately begin a search for its new general manager — Antony himself figures to be a top candidate, though the Twins could depart from their usual method of internal promotions to bring a totally fresh face into the organization. The short-term effect of Ryan’s firing was an immediate surge of interest from rival teams looking to add Twins players before the deadline. This isn't the first time they make people in their organization accountable. Do you think Buddy Bell could keep a job elsewhere?
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
If Q continues to pitch well in the years ahead the Sox have options on him for 2019 and 2020. Profar will be a fairly young free agent in 2020 and Boras is his agent. Q has more years of control than Profar. Nuff said .
kitekrazy
The problem with many of these speculated trade packages is that they offer pitchers. That's what they don't need and seem to do well on their own. Unless the Sox can dump Ja. I say nein to Ja starting.

harfman77
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) The problem with many of these speculated trade packages is that they offer pitchers. That's what they don't need and seem to do well on their own. Unless the Sox can dump Ja. I say nein to Ja starting. They are definitely going to need pitching if they are giving up Sale and Q. Your rotation next year if they are both traded is Shields-Rodon-Fulmer-Raunado-Turner/Beck. They didn't get anyone this year that is going to contribute as a starting in the next couple of seasons. You need to get at least two pitchers back for Sale and Q and hope that two of the four can be mid rotation types or better.
