Onlinepole
They ought to schedule as many concerts as possible on any non home date. Many bands would outdraw the baseball team and the local restaurants and bars will love the traffic
soxfan18
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 05:29 AM) because niu doesn't project a sellout. ISFA said they anticipated 30,000. They won't sniff that at current prices.
InTheDriversSeat
For anyone who may be interested, 'Chance The Rapper's Magnificent Coloring Day!' sold out concert on Saturday will be streamed for a fee at the charged TIDAL.com website: https://www.timeout.com/chicago/blog/tidal-...festival-092016 https://listen.tidal.com/playlist/6798a834-...c4-433cc7442067 Apparently this concert will break the all time attendance record at (New) Comiskey Park / U.S. Cellular Field. I suspect that seats were sold in the outfield and bleachers behind the stage. But in order to break any records, that extra seating has to be greater than the 8 rows of upper deck seats which still existed during the 2 previous sold out concerts in 2002 and 2003. http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-white-so...-rapper-concert . The field seating won't compensate. Ac/D.C. Was sold out at wrigley last year and the official attendance was 29k(park holds 41k for baseball. )
Bob Sacamano
Zero interest in this concert but agree that the Cell should hold more concerts. Edit: also Chance sounds like a classy guy. Edited September 23, 2016 by soxfan2014

If they are selling every available seat for this show, they would easily have way more than the concerts at Wrigley.

As for the sox, they took out 6800 seats. The stated capacity of 40k factors in the outfield seats. There's no way they allow 7000 people on roger bossards field two days before a game. InTheDriversSeat
Article from Chicago Tribune today: Bertuca said more than 44,000 tickets have been sold for the event and new areas were being opened up as of Thursday morning. The park's modern-day attendance record of 47,609 was set at the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 2003. http://my.chicagotribune.com/#section/-1/a...e/p2p-91496368/ . ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 23, 2016 -> 11:46 PM) So what's the Cubs excuse? The Phillies? The Mets? Yeah, and you know the Hawks and Bulls, tops in each their sports in attendance, always hurting to try to book Frozen on ice to keep the lights on. ChiliIrishHammock24
Damn, parking is $30 and no tailgating allowed? I assume that means like no cooking or setting up tents. But I have to believe we can pop the trunk and sit on the back and get wasted, right?

ChiliIrishHammock24
Wow, Kanye surprise appearance looked like a modern Disco Demo night. Floods of people jumping over fences and in to the bullpen bar and over porta-potties to get to the stage. Security didn't even try to stop the waves of hundreds of kids charging. ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 01:53 AM) Ladies and gentlemen, the last concert at sox park! Meh, they didn't cause any trouble when they got to the field, they just need to figure out that people may use the bullpen as way to get to the field and staff security there. Or maybe if someone as big as Kanye is going to show up, let the people/security know when! That place lost it's mind when he appeared. InTheDriversSeat
Here's Chicago Tribune music critic Greg Kot review and photos: http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainmen...924-column.html And redeye's review. Don't know why they are using a photo taken at a different Chance The Rapper concert: http://www.redeyechicago.com/music/redeye-...0924-story.html Here's a video when Kanye West joined Chance The Rapper on stage. Weather seems perfect. The stage looks huge, totally obstructing the view for anyone sitting in the outfield. I like the White Sox logos on the video screens at both sides of the stage: http://www.stereogum.com/1901086/watch-kan...festival/video/ . bmags
What's the difference between that and people who bought outfield ickets sitting on lower level? Who cares. It's a concert, kids were having fun, no one was hurt.
