He would arguably be the top FA pitcher this offseason though if he finishes out the season strong. Could lock up similar money to what he's making now for longer than just the next 2 years.

He'll be 35. No one would pay him anywhere near $44 million;

The Sox will be fortunate to peddle him now for an interesting A ball prospect.

Luckily we're not trying to move him at the $44 million price tag. What we are paying him is very affordable to almost every team.

I was just saying your post wasn't very insightful as this is a thread about Shields "possibly" being traded. Was just kind of funny is all.

I was trying to say that he made it sound like it wouldn't be surprising if he was dealt, not that the possibility is there...as we all know that already.

The tweet went viral and now he's backing out

Just industry rumblings, I've heard nothing concrete. Just interesting in response to Olney saying CWS wants Puig.

Oh my. Caulfield might actually become a White Sox fan.

Here the thing about Puig......one, he's been bad this year. Two, he was hurt last year. And three, he's signed through 2018, and IMO, we won't be contenders until 2018. So we really only get 1 year to win with Puig? Not saying I would rather keep Shields, just saying this doesn't really help our future as much unless our plan is to flip him once he regains some value.
