Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) Um, ok? I was just saying your post wasn't very insightful as this is a thread about Shields "possibly" being traded. Was just kind of funny is all. GreenSox
QUOTE (kevo880 @ Jul 27, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) He would arguably be the top FA pitcher this offseason though if he finishes out the season strong. Could lock up similar money to what he's making now for longer than just the next 2 years. He'll be 35. No one would pay him anywhere near $44 million; The Sox will be fortunate to peddle him now for an interesting A ball prospect.

What we are paying him is very affordable to almost every team.

daggins
There seems to be some desire from the Sox to sell high on BGJ, which is good. I would be disappointed if only Shields and Robertson were traded, but that does seem pretty likely.
Whisox05
@whitesox's James Shields has 1.71 ERA over 42 IP in last 6 starts. He could be in play. Value for @whitesox complicated by opt-out clause. https://twitter.com/philgrogers/status/760131847116455936
footlongcomiskeydog
When is the last time the Sox flipped a player in the same year that they traded for him? Hopefully the Sox can move him, but I don't think anyone is going to give up much for him.
flavum
If the Jays are shutting Sanchez down as a starter, Shields makes a lot sense for Toronto.

Bigsoxhurt35
If we flipped Erik f***ing Johnson and Tatis Jr. into Puig, that'd be good. Shields for Puig? Not sure they do it. Maybe in a Q deal or Sale.

ChiliIrishHammock24
Here the thing about Puig......one, he's been bad this year. Two, he was hurt last year. And three, he's signed through 2018, and IMO, we won't be contenders until 2018. So we really only get 1 year to win with Puig? Not saying I would rather keep Shields, just saying this doesn't really help our future as much unless our plan is to flip him once he regains some value.
