NorthSideSox72
August is when we'll start hearing reports of what players are going. Typically mid- to late-August. My totally early guesses for good AFL candidates in the system... LHP Jace Fry (if he's pitching by then - coming off 2nd TJS, needs innings) RHP Blake Smith (if he's not in MLB before then - converted OF just coming into his own, needs exposure) 1B Danny Hayes (missed time) RHP Nolan Sanburn (need to see what he has, he's finally getting decent results this year, need to decide on keeping or dumping) SS Eddy Alvarez (needs to accelerate path, versus good competition) RHP Jacob Morris (converted position player, getting pretty good, needs refinement) RHP Connor Walsh (missed time to injury) OF Mason Robbins (potential is real, just getting right rhythm, could use more time against tough pitching) C Brett Austin (losing time to Collins and missed some with injury, need him to get on track)
Lip Man 1
Let's see...former White Sox player...hmmmm. Robin's deal is up...hmmmm. At least he's managing SOMEWHERE. Mark
Harry Chappas
at least he will have experience when they hire him

kitekrazy
Potential for another Sox player we will come to hate. You would think former players would pick up on this and say no thanks. BTW I really love the Fall League. The weather is nicer than Spring Training, few attend and it's fun to watch when the season is over. You can sit anywhere you want. caulfield12
I expect an announcement that Thome (and eventually, AJ) will be similarly involved in the offseason....coaching in PR, Venezuela, etc. Who are the OTHER most likely options out there right now? Sandy Alomar, Jr.? Dave Martinez (again)? I guess we should be scouring the Red Sox, Blue Jays, Rangers, Astros, Tigers, Royals, Orioles, Indians, Cubs, etc., for someone more qualified...and, of course, it would have been nice to see what Renteria could do with this current group instead of letting Ventura serve out the final two months of his lame duck status. I don't know if the whether is always nicer (since most games are played at night)...but I usually just go plop my butt down right next to the dugout. Looking forward to it this year now. REALLY looking forward to fall actually....I'm so friggin sick of summer out here right now! Edited July 30, 2016 by Wanne
Ozzie for Manager
Hawk was talking last night its about a manager bringing the most out of their players. Robin is not very fiery and he is not an old baseball man like a Joe Maddon or a Terry Collins. Someone like Rowand is very fiery, we were better under Ozzie and he had that type of persionality. Baseball is not a hard game to necessarily understand. Could be a better match then Ventura.

GreenSox
They don't need fiery- that can wear thin quickly. Lack of fire isn't Ventura's problem. Bring in an experienced professional who knows the game, who can teach, and who can evaluate talent.
