Also please just play Coats every game. Don't care how bad he looks, at least you see what he can do. shuck has no business getting any playing time. Nothing like a slap hitter batting .213

This.

The ball took him into the base path. It was a legal play. He didn't drop the ball either guys. The broadcasters are just spewing biased crap all over.

This is correct. If the catcher is going to catch a ball that brings him into the base bath ( which it did) and a collision is unavoidable (which it was) , it's all legal. Besides I'd be ashamed to tie the game on some silly rule where the runner was clearly out by 7 feet.

Didn't know the plate block rule was altered...so that dropped scoop by Abreu basically blew the game then.

Abreu has sucked on defense all year he is a DH only at best.

I'm anxious to see the replay. For only one reason - to see the jump Carlos got off the bat. Baseless hypothesis is that he didn't get a good jump and would have been safe if he was a better base runner. The guy sucks on the base paths.

Yes it used to be just in the baseline. Now you actually have to affect the runner which it didn't, and he has the rightto catch the ball as well.

The Sox got burned before they tweaked it a bit. At one time that was illegal.

Alright. Watched the replay...

1.) Sanchez had a PATHETIC lead off second when the ball was hit.

2.) He didn't get an aggressive secondary lead and held up a bit on the hit, unsure if it would drop or not.

3.) It was fielded shallow and was an aggressive move to send him home

4.) If Carlos had a more aggressive lead, secondary lead, and flawless read off the bat - he would have scored.

In that situation ( 2 outs) Sanchez has to get a huge secondary lead and be moving toward 3rd base even before the crack of the bat while allowing himself enough time to get back on a catchers pick off attempt. As he was approaching 3rd it was pretty obvious if he was sent that a good throw would nail him. Exciting game though and nice hitting by Saladino .

No one is holding him on and he's like two full strides from the bag as the pitch is being delivered. He's also leaning TOWARDS second base still. Fail.

He didn't need to read anything. 2 outs so any hesitation would just be plain stupid baseball that little leaguers should execute properly.

Yea. Carlos certainly should have made it a much closer play and it's on him. I think if he had a better lead, better secondary lead, and more aggressive off the bat movement - that it still would have been a close play. Considering Mathis didn't have the ball to well secured, if Carlos does the above -- the ball either hits him or gets knocked lose on the play.

It's not the call that annoys me, it's the lack of consistency. Either enforce the rule at all times or don't enforce it.

They changed the rule to allow for catching the ball to lead the catcher into the base bath. They've been consistent with that now.

Just about every play at home plate this year in the games( Sox, Rays Marlins and ESPN) I have watched have all been called correctly. It's the best thing they ever did was changing that rule. Sanchez was out as the way the rule now reads be but he would have been safe 2 years ago which was a joke.

Chris Sale can forget about the Cy Young. Hasn't won a game since before the All Star break (to be fair thanks in part to his bullpen "friends.")

And regarding Sanchez, two outs you are going on the pitch, no excuse for that especially with Miami not holding him close to the bag.

With Cabrera up next, and with Rodney pitching, McEwing should have held him, especially with such a short lead. I mean, it did take a perfect throw to get him but still, i think he should've kept him at 3rd and let Melky hit with bases loaded

Second bone headed play by Sanchez within a week where he was asked to pinch run late in the game. Yet another sox product with zero baseball sense or ability
