Dick Allen
QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Chris Sale can forget about the Cy Young. Hasn't won a game since before the All Star break (to be fair thanks in part to his bullpen "friends.") And regarding Sanchez, two outs you are going on the pitch, no excuse for that especially with Miami not holding him close to the bag. Mark Why would he be going on the pitch? He just isn''t fast. The worst thing he could have done is get picked off. The LF made a good throw and that was that. Anything offline a bit and he is safe.
tray
I did not see all angles but from what I saw, there seemed to be a question as to whether or not the catcher maintained possession instead of bobbling or dropping the ball. I guess they either had a camera shot that showed he had possession or they didn't have evidence to overrule the call on the field. In any case, it was really foolish of Joe McEwing to send the runner on that play. McEwing has been a terrible third base coach all along. He is as responsible for that loss as anyone. We should have won that game.
South Side Fireworks Man
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) Abreu has sucked on defense all year he is a DH only at best. Re-sign Morneau and trade Abreu.
tray
The ball was in the LF glove in extremely short Left and he had momentum going toward home to make the throw just as Sanchez was rounding third. This base running screw-up was as ugly as Sanchez getting cut down at second on an ill advised steal attempt. The Sox have lost way too many close games where managerial and coaching decisions contributed to the loss. Great at-bat earlier in the 9th by Anderson taking three sliders for balls with two strikes on him then launching a home run.
Flash Tizzle
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) Maybe the most pathetic inning of Sale's career here. Oh where oh where did his fastball go I wonder if "pitching to contact" is code for "lost of stuff/confidence. Really hope this doesn't start a decline in Sale through the end of the season. We desperately need a franchise altering trade from him
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 01:54 PM) I did not see all angles but from what I saw, there seemed to be a question as to whether or not the catcher maintained possession instead of bobbling or dropping the ball. We should have won that game. He had possession all the way. There was a shot that showed a lot of white of the ball but it was in his glove at the time and his glove with hand in it was knocked against the ground or close to it. The ball just stuck in the webbing even though the catcher wasn't able to grip it very tight.

kitekrazy
QUOTE (hi8is @ Aug 14, 2016 -> 02:31 PM) Yea. Carlos certainly should have made it a much closer play and it's on him. I think if he had a better lead, better secondary lead, and more aggressive off the bat movement - that it still would have been a close play. Considering Mathis didn't have the ball to well secured, if Carlos does the above -- the ball either hits him or gets knocked lose on the play. Well this is the Sox we are talking about. I don't know if there is any other organization that has so many players incapable of base running.
