elrockinMT
You don't trade for a 3bman who can hit about 40 or more homers just to let him go right away

2nd_city_saint787
He's under contract right? Unless you get back a 3rd basemen in a trade, they might as well keep him around.
winninguglyin83
Davidson, Michalczewski aren't ready to replace him -- and might never be.

This is obviously for purposes of the Moncada/Benintendi trade for Sale or Q in the offseason.
caulfield12
Shaw is the current weak/est spot for Boston. Bogaerts and Pedroia are set in the middle infield, Ramirez at 1b....and they will probably sign Encarnacion to replace Ortiz. So where else would Moncada, a born infielder, play in that lineup? Bob Sacamano
I smell bulls***. He spoke this season about how playing for the Reds last season was draining. He would be sick of showing up at the ballpark every day if we were rebuilding. Edited August 15, 2016 by soxfan2014

They'll probably look to move Devers before Moncada.

It's just sunshine-and-rainbows PR garbage for us fans to consume.
