Thad Bosley
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) Another awful play by Abreu. He makes Frank Thomas look like a good defensive player Yes, mgmt has to be seeing the same thing we're seeing. Wonder if they're thinking DH for Jose next season at this point. Seems to cost the pitchers a good 2-3 runs a week with his poor plays that aren't called errors
harkness99
Abreu no more 1b for you... This also has to be currently one of the worse bullpens I've seen in quite awhile.
pettie4sox
when you lose the likes a putnam and petricka your bullpen is going to take hits. If those two were around, they would be dealing with the likes ynoa, albers, and fulmer ffs. Edited August 18, 2016 by pettie4sox

If those two were around, they would be dealing with the likes ynoa, albers, and fulmer ffs. If losing those guys destroys your pen, then your GM provided the team no depth heading into the year. Same thing with having to replace the mediocre Austin Jackson with JB Shuck. Just a complete failure of an offseason for Hahn

harkness99
I love how Jose likes to take the first pitch right down the middle then flail at nearly every other pitch. It's a pretty genius process.

caulfield12
The irony, and Dick Allen always brought this up (incessantly), is how much the "lift and pull" supposed strategy of Greg Walker resulted in inconsistent results (lots of blowouts either way, lots of close losses), but at least the offenses under his "regime" were average or even above average. Steverson almost floats below the radar...and he even has an assistant coach, to boot. Walker didn't get Fletcher until the very end. (Or maybe I'm confusing that with what the Braves did.) Of course, you can also argue that having AJ, Dye, Crede, Thome, Konerko, Quentin...the results for Walker SHOULD have been much better, comparatively. soxforlife05
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 05:44 PM) Indians look to be good the next few years Would've been nice to offload Robertson's contract at the deadline then slot Burdi into the setup role next year. Then we might've had the money to sign two top FA's. Would've saved $17 mill for next year with Duke and Robertson gone. But then we traded for Shieeeeelds even though we get Danks off the books.
