doubtful...as the "all in" approach will continue next year also. Plus...you won't get the return you'd need for either guy.

Wait, there's a return we need for those guys? We're not talking about Q or Sale here. I can't imagine there'd be a substantial return deserved for either one.

Wpuld not mind if they offered both to LA for Puig.

Dodgers pen has been ridiculous this year, don't think they need Robertson.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a team take Robertson with a decent return. Outside of the 3 games where we was either on extreme rest and the game he came in in a non save situation he really hasn't been THAT bad. I know it's cherry picking but when you take out those 3 games he has something like.a 1.64 ERA.

Maybe Seattle will take him .Outside of Diaz the Sox did a number on the M's pen.

I'm sure you could get a decent prospect for Melky

Sure there is. Should get a solid prospect for each. but if they were going to do this, they should have done it well before now.

But what's the waiver situation on them?

Anyone think we can get Conforto for Melky? Mets need an OF and the Mets refuse to call Conforto back up even though he's their best option.

The Mets front office should be put into an asylum if they made that trade.

Another one the Sox should move, if they want to move these guys, is Avilia. He's a good catcher when healthy. I'd sign him long term, if he could stay off of the DL.

If the Sox are "going for it" in 2017, they shouldn't move any of these guys on contracts beyond 2016, except Lawrie, and they can't move him now.

Hopefully the front office doesn't share your opinion. We will never improve at any level of you just jetison players and get nothing in return

They waited way too long to dump both guys. It's all timing. They could have gotten something for both of them months ago.

I don't get people's desire to "dump" Melky? Dump one of the most consistent hitters on your team?...mkay. If they didn't trade him at deadline they sure as hell wont trade him now...same with Robertson. I don't have a problem trading Robertson at all...in the off season...but IMO it seems ridiculous to trade one of the better hitters on your team right now for basically nothing. But then again...this is the Sox.

Agree but I don't think the idea is for nothing. Could they trade him and get a solid prospect back ??

Well he's not getting any younger and always best to trade a player a little too soon than a little too late. It's been a pleasure watching him hit and throw out runners this year plus he is a character. When's he's playing poorly a "character" becomes a " clown " on Soxtalk.

Yep. He was terrible last year and not just offensively. I'd rather not wait till his value drops again. Now I will say this, deal him in the offseason, not now.

There's no point in doing that unless Sale or Q are being traded and we are starting a long rebuild.
