Kyyle23
http://www.todaysknuckleball.com/al/chicag...-sale-quintana/ Alright, if that's the way you want to go Jerry, no more p****footing. No half measures. You either spend like a boss or tear it down at this point
Y2Jimmy0
This doesn't really say anything though. Reinsdorf is 80 and wants to win. I doubt they trade either guy unless they get a franchise altering haul.

shipps
Its been pretty obvious that this has been the case by the lack of movement at the trading deadline and everything that was done in the past two off seasons.

No half measures. You either spend like a boss or tear it down at this point My thoughts exactly. It's obvious with his advanced age JR wants to win now, I understand that, but 100% agree, then this off-season he needs his baseball people to ID 1-2 FAs or player via trade and you do what you have to do to make it happen. Can't be 99% in on that strategy.
Balta1701
"Spend like a boss"? On what? If Cespedes doesn't opt out, who is left? Does Ramos + Rich Hill + Josh Reddick turn this team into the best team even in just the AL Central?
caulfield12
So they're willing to spend another $125-175 million on, let's say, Cespedes and Ramos...? We'll instead end up with something like Rasmus, Wieters and a veteran bullpen guy and hope that everything goes right and nobody gets injured. It just doesn't make sense since they don't have any assets to trade that won't come from the big league club. Fulmer and Adams have lost considerable value. Trading the likes of Cabrera and Frazier won't move the needle. Maybe Robertson for salary relief, but that leaves Burdi, Jones and Jennings as your three best relievers. They'll probably try to sell Tilson as the permanent solution in CF, which will be as annoying as hearing Avi Garcia's name anywhere in connection with 2017. If they go for that strategy, maybe they try to bring in Kendrys Morales for one year to replace Morneau as DH (even though Abreu should be there) instead of bringing in a name outfielder. shipps
They have to bring in those guys that Balta mentioned AND make some trades in order to get back to being competitive. Even then it would be no guarantee that they wouldnt just flop again.

Whisox05
The problem is sox dont have a farm system to make the major league roster better so they would have spend to contend. They will have holes at c, dh, of, starter and bullpen. Thats alot of money to throw out there especially in one of the weakest class of free agents in a while. Probably going to be teams spending more to get the little talent out there. Honestly sox would fare better selling in a crappy market hopefully with teams bidding up. I guess we will see what they do.

Does Ramos + Rich Hill + Josh Reddick turn this team into the best team even in just the AL Central? Overpaying Hill and giving Reddick 4-5 years has disaster written all over it. Would be nice to at least have that option, but the presence of Shields, Gonzalez and Fulmer will be the primary reasons no starting pitchers are added. Maybe sox could get puig and hopefully bounces back but thats a big banking on and really thin market for much else especially if Cespedes stays with the mets

Pass on Ramos. I'm pulling for Fowler, Wieters, Moreland, Jensen. Going to have to overpay for Fowler and Jensen but Wieters and Moreland should be relative bargains. Fowler - CF Eaton - RF Abreu - 1B/DH Frazier - 3B Melky - LF Moreland - 1B/DH Lawrie/Saladino - 2B Wieters - C Anderson - SS On paper that at least appears to be a league average offense which combined with great starting pitching and hopefully good bullpen should be a playoff contender. Y2Jimmy0
The White Sox aren't in a position as an organization to be giving up any draft picks to sign free agents.
