caulfield12
Even if Sanchez hit .325 the final month, would anyone want him to have the 2b job over Lawrie and/or Saladino next year?
fathom
Shields is a total joke. Hahn absolutely should be fired for the acquisition. Might as well bench him and give Fulmer some starts. At this point, just have to pray Shields retires.

Chicago White Sox
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 3, 2016 -> 07:02 PM) Even if Sanchez hit .325 the final month, would anyone want him to have the 2b job over Lawrie and/or Saladino next year? No way in hell. I'm guessing Lawrie will keep his job, but if anyone should replace him it's Saladino.

fathom
Hope this is the last time I ever see Shields in a Sox uniform. Can't let him pitch for Sox next year if you have any desire to contend Edited September 4, 2016 by fathom
fathom
Shields velocity was down, even for him. And Jacob Turner is not a big league pitcher Edited September 4, 2016 by fathom

GreenSox
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 3, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) Has a GM ever been fired while a game was going on? He's the worst since at least Ed Short in the 1960s, and may be worse than him (not that familiar with Short's work). Shields and Turner. quite the eye for talent. caulfield12
Yeah, but a rebound undoubtedly puts him in the 5-5.5 ERA range. His "good" stretch this year included some crazy 0 for 48 stretch with RISP while he was striking out around 5.5 per 9/ip. Basically, the best case scenario is John Danks from 2013-2015. Reactionary is getting mad at Sale or Quintana when they have a bad start. Edited September 4, 2016 by caulfield12
SoxAce
If we acquired Shields to net a top 10 pick, then it was a genius move.

I'd think about it if that was the case. He's already having another great year by the defensive metrics at 2B. It's a shame the bat isn't catching up though. Unearned, but yeah. The WHIP will suffer. Some had Turner in next year's pen.
