Jose Abreu
Around the trade deadline, it seemed like we were gonna sell. But now, with these "JR wants to win NOW!!" stories, I don't know what we're going to do. I think selling is more prudent, especially with the bleak FA market. I also envision some sort of weird buy/sell thing where we trade one of Sale/Quintana and get some package like Bradley/Benintendi/Kopech and try to win now, but then we'd just have a bad rotation. Anyway, here's what I want to happen: Chicago trades Sale, Robertson to Boston for Moncada, Benintendi, Kopech, Groome Chicago trades Quintana to Los Angeles (NL) for Urias, De Leon, Verdugo Chicago trades Cabrera, one of Abreu/Frazier (as a 1B) to Texas for Guzman, Taveras Here's what I think (and fear) will happen: Either: A: Nothing or: B: Chicago signs Edwin Encarnacion to 4-year, $110 million contract Chicago signs Kenley Jansen to 4-year, $52 million contract Chicago thinks they're contenders but finishes with anywhere between 75-85 wins

Consider that. I think they sign guys without giving up a draft pick and for not a ton of money and I think they also don't trade any of the big prospects/young controllable players. BigHurt3515
Step 1: Fire Robin Step 2: Hire an actual coach Step 3: Make sure we go back and do step 1 before going any further Edited September 6, 2016 by BigHurt3515
greg775
Build a complete pitching staff somehow. Fire Robin, hire Leyland, fire Cooper and get a pitching coach who believes in 7 innings from his starters minimum. Pitching, pitching, pitching, defense, defense, defense. 2nd_city_saint787
It'll never happen, but I would both buy and sell. Sign Rich Hill to really corner the SP market.....Trade Q to Boston for JBJ/Moncada/Swihart/Rodriguez.....Hope Shields retires.....Resign Morneau with intentions of potentially flipping him once Collins is ready. Sale-Hill-Rodon-Rodriguez-Gonzalez/Fulmer 1. Eaton RF 2. Anderson SS 3. JBJ CF 4. Abreu 1B 5. Morneau DH 6. Frazier 3B 7. Melky LF 8. Moncada 2B 9. You keep repeating this ad nauseam but it just isn't a reality. The fact is that nobody goes 7+ innings every start. Out of the 79 qualified starters this year exactly 1 averages 7+ innings per start. That pitcher? Chris Sale. And who's his pitching coach? Oh yea, the guy you're complaining about. Greg Hibbard
If they're gonna buy, they need to bring in a good DH and a couple of other bigger supplemental offensive pieces. 23rd in team home runs 23rd in runs scored 23rd in OPS ....in a hitter's park It's killing us

I don't but no downside to ask. Besides, if he still wants to play and the Cubs don't want him, he only has 2 choices. Retire or play for another team. Does anyone see any downside by asking? It really makes no difference if they get a good catcher and get a legit outfielder if they can't score enough runs to win games. Sale should have at least 23 wins by now and Q should be around 16 if the Sox had an offense.
