ChiliIrishHammock24
God damnit, Porcello went CG, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K and got his 21st win. Sale is going to get f***ed by that dude.
Y2Jimmy0
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) I agree with you. Pitching in pressureless meaningless games just isn't important and I'm not giving the Cy Young or MVP to someone who racked up the stats on a garbage team (unless they are that much better than the competition). So Trout shouldn't be the MVP?
Chisoxfn
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 05:17 AM) So Trout shouldn't be the MVP? Well, I think he was head and shoulders better then the other contenders, so in that case, I think he passed the test.
southsider2k5
http://meadowparty.com/blog/2016/09/22/klawchat-92216/ buck farmer: who would you pick for AL Cy Young? Klaw: Kluber or Sale.
flavum
Britton with another save in a 2-1 game.
chw42
With Sale struggling in his last start and Kluber coming out of his last one with an injury. I think it's safe to say that Porcello is now actually the front runner with Kluber and Sale closely behind. The voters have already voted, so any performances after the fact will be irrelevant. All 3 will finish the season with around 5 fWAR. So I don't think it'll be a travesty if any one wins over the other. Porcello's string of hot starts in September has put him within the margin of error in my opinion. Before that stretch, I thought he'd be an afterthought. Jose Abreu
That doesn't make sense at all. If Sale rattles off 2 complete game shutouts, the award would likely be his. So I don't get how they could've voted Edited September 27, 2016 by Jose Abreu
flavum
They don't vote until next Monday. Come on, people.

bmags
Britton or Porcello would truly complete the worst cy young race of all time. What a joke.

Quin
Sale and Q had it there for the taking. Just a few bad starts, but that can be on them.
ChiliIrishHammock24
Sale still leads the AL in fWAR and pWAR.
Bob Sacamano
Go out there and throw a CG shutout on Sunday. Unfortunately some guys in the running's seasons still continue past that day.
flavum
Hopefully Sale can finish 5th. That's about as high as he can finish unless Britton blows a couple saves.

Britton, Kluber, Porcello, and Verlander are ahead. Edited September 28, 2016 by flavum
bmags
That's crazy. In a non novel world where sports writers take the opportunity of a non obvious year to choose an idiotic pick, it would probably be 1. Kluber 2. Sale 3. Verlander 4. Porcello 5. Tanaka
flavum
As long as relievers are eligible, Britton has had a season that is special where the rest of the starters have been good, not great. I think Britton deserves it. Maybe Sale gets 2nd. Let's talk Sunday night.
