ScootsMcGoots
http://m.mlb.com/news/article/205084376/gi...wild-card-game/ Who would have thought the Chicago White Sox 2015 starting 3rd baseman would be the one to hit a game winning 3 run bomb to get his team into the playoffs? Flashbacks of 2005 Geoff Blum...
winninguglyin83
Time for Gillaspie and Samardzija to step up. They owe White Sox fans that much, especially Jeffy.
Bob Sacamano
He looked very uncomfortable during post-game interview. Probably a bunch of awkward post-game hugs from teammates as well lol
SoxAce
QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 06:42 AM) Time for Gillaspie and Samardzija to step up. They owe White Sox fans that much, especially Jeffy. You can add Peavy to that list.. Alot of former sox players on that team. Beckham as well. ScootsMcGoots
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 07:55 AM) He looked very uncomfortable during post-game interview. Probably a bunch of awkward post-game hugs from teammates as well lol Yeah I remember Gillaspie being very quiet, and he always looked depressed. That homerun celebration was the only emotion I've ever seen him show.

LittleHurt05
QUOTE (Scoots @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 07:42 AM) Was Beckham traded from Atlanta to San Francisco? On September 27. He failed to reach base in 6 PAs for the Giants, but they are 6-1 since trading for him!

CaliSoxFanViaSWside
Conor had a great interview with Peter Gammons after the game. I also saw an interview with Posey who had this to say about Conor. He doesn't necessarily do it on purpose but Conor always makes us smile. Jose Abreu
Didn't the Giants trade him to us originally because he was like, a total jerk in the clubhouse? And then he gets here and he never talks or smiles
NorthSideSox72
Just because - here is the article I wrote for FutureSox about acquiring Conor Gillaspie for Jeff Soptic, in February of 2013. Soptic, by the way, is still in the SFG system, having pitched his 4th year in High-A. Fun story. I wrote that sitting in a cafe in Datil, New Mexico, at a table under a massive trophy elk head. Stopped on a road trip to write it up.
caulfield12
Lots of ex Sox everywhere you look. Grilli for the Blue Jays. He predates the 2005 team, even. Addison Reed and DeAza on the Mets. Then the Giants. Not to mention all the post season games Uribe won for SFG.
Kyyle23
Uribe is a free agent, but hey ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Swingandalongonetoleft
Very happy for Gillaspie- glad to see him do well. Hope he sprays 4 or 5 more at the bleacher bums or people walking on Waveland over the next few days.

He was a fairly high draft pick if memory serves correct (2008, same year as Posey). http://www.sfgate.com/giants/article/Giant...eto-9802225.php Ron Wotus is the coach who really lobbied to keep him on the roster all season long. Not even Jeff Samardzija shutting out the Cubs in the next week in a game that eliminates them from the playoffs?
shysocks
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 11:17 AM) Not even Jeff Samardzija shutting out the Cubs in the next week in a game that eliminates them from the playoffs? I mean first and foremost I just want the Cubs to lose. But I still have some fondness for Conor - unlike Samardzija - so I'd rather see him be the one killing them the most. YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!
I'd rather have Moore start Game 2 and have Guppy ready in the bullpen.
LittleHurt05
QUOTE (raBBit @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 12:23 PM) It is inevitable that Samardzija gets lit up against the Cubs. One would think so. He faced them at Wrigley on Sept.1 and made it through 4 innings. 4 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 87 pitches
JUSTgottaBELIEVE
Has Bochy announced Shark as game 2 starter? I don't see that anywhere. I said it yesterday that it makes much more sense to start Moore with Shark available out of the pen for long relief. Hopefully Bochy agrees with this line of thinking. Donaldo
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 6, 2016 -> 08:45 AM) No place for him to play with Sandoval. Shady defense and seemed more of a doubles hitter...not quite enough power for 3rd. He was a fairly high draft pick if memory serves correct (2008, same year as Posey). He was only supposed to back up Keppinger and pinch hit here. He was a sandwich pick (37th overall) in `08. Gordon Beckham and Brett Lawrie were also first rounders that year.
