Jenksismyhero
QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) The complaints about the leaked tape WEREN'T about language. That was the icing on the cake. His comments about not respecting women and being a sexist was brought up way before that based on his lewd language. Come on. CrimsonWeltall
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:00 PM) He also claimed that they knew "what was going on" and implicated the Muslim American community at large in the Pulse nightclub shootings. He also said the numerous American Muslims knew the San Bernadino attacks were going to happen after seeing weapons and didn't speak up. All those people had seen were boxes being delivered. CrimsonWeltall
QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:04 PM) That was the icing on the cake. His comments about not respecting women and being a sexist was brought up way before that based on his lewd language. Come on. The way Donald Trump has historically talked about women isn't limited to using lewd words. Again, this isn't about specific language.
juddling
---One question may be why the public ignored a very legitimate complaint about Trump — his terrible behavior with women. A big part of the problem was that the Democrats were, quite possibly, in the worst position to make a big deal out of it. The party that spent decades overlooking Ted Kennedy’s behavior and JFK's and Chris Dodd’s behavior and Bill Clinton’s behavior, the party that saw Joe Biden’s tendency to get handsy with women as endearing had absolutely no leg to stand on with Republicans and independents. Trump bringing Bill Clinton’s accusers to the fore — derided as a stunt — actually worked. Because it reminded many voters that the Democrats rarely give a damn when their own politicians do everything Trump was accused of. Until you start calling out your own political allies, sexual harassment and abuse by politicians will be tolerated. That was as true this year as it was in 1998
Jenksismyhero
To be clear, my point about the sexism stuff being overblown is the ferocity with which people complain about it, not that it was right/wrong/acceptable. We literally celebrate Bill Clinton and ignore that he was the same guy, using his position to take advantage of at least one woman, and rape or abuse others as claimed. If we're consistent, if you voted for/support Bill Clinton, you're a sexist. That's the logic train here with Trump. I think both positions are bulls***. I think it's pretty clear from Trump's words and deeds (and the accounts of others), that he is at best a sexist. At worst, he's sexually assaulted a number of women. Both the amount of evidence that supports Trump being that guy and societal norms make this different than when Clinton campaigned either time.* It's not that people who voted for Trump are sexist, it's that they are quite alright with a guy that has done and said what Trump did and said during the campaign occupying the White House. * Note, I think that if Bill Clinton ran for President on the D ticket in this day and age, he would have never made it out of the primary because of his issues with women in the past. Until you start calling out your own political allies, sexual harassment and abuse by politicians will be tolerated. That was as true this year as it was in 1998 I honestly could give a s*** about this, and I mentioned it the day it was all released. I suspect there were a good number of people who felt the same way. Secondly, the timing of it was such that if this really opened your eyes in regards to some "flaw" in Donald Trump that you somehow missed when you were living on the moon, then I'm not too concerned about your thoughts. Ultimately, the frightening thing about Trump to most Americans that did not vote for him is what he has promised he would do. Not who he is, as much as who he has catered to and what he has promised them. To be very f***ing clear, that is not comparable to the fears of some s***kicker in Alabama who has some paranoid belief that socialist Obama is coming for his guns. Props however, for a well-written response to the womanizing concerns on the left.

CanOfCorn
Words matter people. And I'm not talking about Safe Spaces or whatever else. And when a candidate for the highest position in the land says things like Mexicans are rapists, etc. EVEN if they are taken out of context...it matters. Why? Because for someone who has been in the media spotlight for as long as Mr. Trump has, he should know that we live in a sound bite world. We have been TL;DR for a long time now and when you aren't careful with your wording, people hear that and they take it at face value, right or wrong. Children hear them. Adults who don't agree hear them. The groups he is talking about hear them. And they are scared. And whether or not anything comes of it, those words are what has lasted throughout this election. So, to just dismiss it like, oh, well, it probably won't happen, is just naive. EVEN IF IT PROBABLY WON'T HAPPEN! I have never, in my 45 years, seen such a visceral reaction to a candidate winning an election of any kind. From coast to coast, happy or sad. I have never heard of parents having to answer these kinds of questions like, Are we going to be deported? I have never seen or heard people being harassed the day after an election. I have never seen people protest a candidate to this extent after the election. It's ridiculous. And his words started it. Whether he believes them or not...his words started it. greg775
The people that are blocking highways are playing with fire. If they smash the wrong guy's windshield who is just trying to get home after a hard day's work, if that guy has an automatic weapon, look out. This new trend of going to the freeways and blocking them HAS TO STOP. It's awful. The police need to arrest ALL these people. It'll be the worst decision a protestor has ever made. No employer is gonna hire a person with a record for that.
