Should is different than reality though

I'm I'm Houston, I am very interested in Sale...but trading Bregman, Martes, Tucker plus two more high quality prospects is just too high of a price to stomach

Chris Sale has a ton of value, but getting a team to part with 5 of their 10 top prospects is a painful pill to swallow

An offer of Bregman, Tucker, Martes and Moran alone would be a very compelling one for the White Sox to consider

Not in a weaker AL and when we now have a very good team after adding Sale, McCann and Reddick. Sometimes you take risks. This organization has never won a World Series. It's time to go all-in.

You *SHOULD* be gutting your farm system to add a Chris Sale. You have a top of the rotation starter under control for 3 years. You're making a move to win those 3 years. You will have 3 years of drafts and signings to restock that system.

As a fan, the trade is great for both sides. Bregman is expendable, Martes is a couple years away from helping at the big league level and for a team that's ready to compete for the World Series next year. Moran seems like a Matt Davidson clone. Tucker and the Whitley help seal the deal because they signed Reddick and there's no spot for Tucker with Springer and Reddick manning the corners for the foreseeable future. As you look at the package as whole, some of those will not be good major leaguers and some may bust. Prospects are prospects at the end of the day and Sale is an all-star ace. Farm systems are for developing your keepers and trading the rest.

So that's giving up Bregman and number 1, 2, 3 and 7 ranked prospects in my farm system.

Just went over the Astros roster now.

SP:

Sale, Kuechel, McCullers, Mortan and McHugh

Pen: Peacock, Devenski, Gustave, Sipp, Harris, Giles and Gregorson

C-McCann

DH-Gattis

1B-White/Reed

2B-Altuve

SS-Correa

3B-Gurriel

OF-Reddick LF, Hernandez CF, and Springer RF

That's a good team right there with the off-season bold moves including the fantasy trade of Sale. Could still upgrade the bullpen now.

Wade Davis is still the likeliest to go...but went through injury in second half.

You've got Moustakas vs. Cuthbert at 3rd. Duffy has a lot of trade value as a one year rental coming off last season. Dyson is also probably going to end up superfluous.

Cain, Escobar, Davis, Moustakas, and Hosmer all free agents at season's end

Hey Rick, does the following package get the Phillies in the door of Quintana talks?

Nick Williams

Jake Thompson

Andrew Knapp

Roman Quinn

Rhys Hoskins

Not sure. Since your team has been so god awful I instructed my scouting director to pull every area scout from your affiliates in 2013. Let me get back at you.
