Good. Don't want him anywhere near the organization.

Lol, such a typical comment from you. Ranaudo is nothing special, this isn't really a loss, but you continue to fail to recognize that depth is your friend.

When your depth doesn't get picked up by anyone in the big leagues and winds up in korea, you don't actually have depth.

Again, I said not really a loss. The dudes close to doubling his salary, can you really blame him? And every other team didn't have the chance to get him, Sox released him so he could pursue this opportunity. It's not like he cleared waivers beforehand.

When the depth is bad in the first place and the temptation to use him is there because of the whims of the front office, its best that said "bad depth" is as far away as humanly possible from the organization.

Which means they would have to turn to worse depth. Not sure how that is any better.

I liked him better in that role than Scott Carroll...and I suspect that the Sox will have a few Ranaudos/Carrolls picking up starts this year as they take their time with the pitching prospects.

That open spot can now be used to select someone in the rule 5, right?

I believe that is correct. You have to have your protected list into the league office by the deadline, but as long as you have open rosters spots on the day of the draft, you can pick players.
