The CBA is done - formerly the CBA is not done thread

It's being reported that PA has not been prepping their players for lock out (as seen in NFL or NBA recently where there was a lot of chatter about saving for a protracted lockout),

Knowing that, feel like PA will cave and bridge whatever gap is left.

Aren't players paid at the end of months? If so, the PA has what, 5 months until the first paychecks don't arrive for anything that isn't a signing bonus, end of April?

Paid every other Sunday during the season, I believe.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 2h2 hours ago . . . They would fall back to No. 30, a less onerous penalty than losing a pick. Again, this is simply a proposal, an idea being discussed.

  1. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/804071585095237632 . . . a wealthy revenue-sharing payor would slide back, say, five slots in draft. So, if #Dodgers signed QO FA, picking at No. 25 . . .
  2. Draft-pick compensation idea in play in CBA talks, per source: Rather than lose a pick for signing a qualifying offer free agent . . .

New CBA is agreed upon. Hear luxury tax threshold is going to start at about $195M rise to $210M-$215M over life of 5-yr deal, sources say

Hear new CBA will have 60-70 pct penalty for those extremely over threshold, about $250M payrolls or greater. Currently highest is 50 pct

Hear in the new CBA there will be NO 26th roster spot. The current conditions with 25 and expanded rosters in Sept stays.

Source on draft-pick comp: “Still being discussed. Trying to shuffle around loss of first pick with player getting deal of $50M or more.”

There will be free-agent compensation, but with a draft pick that isn't a 1st rounder

Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeyman 2m2 minutes ago

No international draft, but int'l signings are said to be capped to 5-6M per team per year.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 2m2 minutes ago

Team that loses QO free agent will get pick only if player signs contract of $50M+. Pick it gets will depend upon that team’s market size.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 5m5 minutes ago

Club that signs QO free agent, if it exceeds luxury-tax threshold, will lose 2nd-rounder, 5th-rounder and $1M in int’l bonus money.

Makes it an even playing field. Will come down to international scouting and negotiating with buscones.Hopefully no team will be able to go over the cap number.

Turns out draft-pick compensation won't disappear. Teams over threshold lose a 2nd- & 5th-round pick. Under threshold: lose 3rd-round pick.

Teams will not mind giving up a 3rd round pick at all under threshold.

Do teams still get picks for losing free agents? If so, is it still a 1st rounder?

Just wondering how this new CBA will impact Frazier's trade value.

Have not seen anything saying that changed, just what signing team gives up.
