ChiSox59
It is a sad day, but a necessary move; excited for Moncada and Kopech, and hope Chris gets to pitch in the playoffs next year.
BlackSox13
QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) Thanks Chris, but it's about damn time. You can put a big red X in front of Sale's face on your sig. I will miss Sale's dominance but I won't miss his childish ways so I say WELCOME TO CHICAGO YOAN MONCADA! fathom
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:15 PM) Hadn't thought of it that way, but if he steps out of line he will be fried there. The White Sox and the Chicago media really protected the guy. That won't happen in Boston. And if he tanks against divisional foes or melts down in the 2nd half, their fan base will destroy him
soxfan49
Thank you for your dominance, Chris, and go win a ring, but it's time for a rebuild.
Hatchetman
Pathetic they couldn't sniff the playoffs with this guy in his prime.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) And if he tanks against divisional foes or melts down in the 2nd half, their fan base will destroy him Especially if the guys in this deal amount to what they are thought of. mmmmmbeeer
I'm glad your elbow held on long enough for us to get some good value for you.
TheFutureIsNear
Would have preferred 1 more prospect back, but I'm content overall....
flavum
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) I'm glad your elbow held on long enough for us to get some good value for you. Amen. And I'm definitely rooting for him to stay healthy and be a Hall of Famer someday, but could you imagine if they didn't move him, and he got hurt next year? I'm very happy with the timing of this deal.
steveno89
QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) Pathetic they couldn't sniff the playoffs with this guy in his prime. Overall what needed to happen for the future health of the organization, and I wish him the best in his career I always looked forward to going to games that he started because he gave us a great chance to win. I'll always remember him making Joe Mauer look silly, which rarely happened in his prime. That being said this deal does have upside for the Sox. Moncada is an excellent prospect, Kopech is MLB.com's #67 overall prospect and one that is trending upwards, Basabe has interesting tools and could develop into something and Diaz is a flyer on a reliever with a plus fastball I won't judge this by just the Sale trade, we need to look at the offseason as a whole to get a better picture. Realistically we will not know if this was a good deal or not for years
Balta1701
The White Sox made a bet that they'd get lucky in 2015 and 2016, lost, and this is the payback.
Lemon_44
Ladies and gentlemen, here's your 2017 Chicago Knights. Edited December 6, 2016 by Lemon_44
Harry Chappas
The White Sox certainly love Cuban baseball palyers.
Dam8610
They insisted on getting the "star power" guy, and therefore likely lost some incremental value in getting additional low level talent that could eventually hugely swing this in their favor, though Basabe is an interesting piece in that regard. bulokis
I was sad then got excited that finally we can move away from the half ass rebuild or going for it.

hogan873
I like the trade. Somewhat sad to see Sale go, but his antics of late got old. Excited to see what Moncada can do.
steveno89
QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:26 PM) soxtalk is just as annoying but way more interesting... It's better to trade a player one year early, than one year too late The White Sox could not really risk him getting injured or losing any trade value at the start of a rebuild Now for other domino's to fall in Melky, Frazier, Abreu, Gonzalez, etc. I would put Quintana on the block and see what offers you get for him
sin city sox fan
Brooks Boyer gets to add a throw back jersey day to the 2017 promotional calendar.
greg775
I'm totally against becoming a perennial last place team and with this trade, we are a last place AL Central team, for what could be a long time to come.
harkness99
I think its perfect timing.. Chris is relatively young but I feel like he might be on the decline.
Thad Bosley
Glad to get Moncada and Kopech...but...but...but, for Chris Sale, at his age and with his contract, just thought we'd get a little bit more in return, especially since we didn't get anybody with MLB experience in the package.
