Kyyle23
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Except the White Sox organization has always cared about marketing, attendance revenues, perception...you honestly believe all that institutional memory can disappear so quickly? Yea it all disappeared between the time Sale was traded and right now. I can't pinpoint the exact second, but it is gone now.
Donaldo
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) I'll be honest....I'm kind of pissed we haven't made anymore deals yet. Me too, but it's still early.
TheChrisSamsa
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) Except the White Sox organization has always cared about marketing, attendance revenues, perception...you honestly believe all that institutional memory can disappear so quickly? Season ticket reps had a really tough time with their cold calls today.. They're not going to spin this like they're competing.
witesoxfan
I'm afraid I missed the late 80's Sox connection to this. How is this a classic caulfield post?
caulfield12
C'mon, that's the best anyone can do? Disappointing.
caulfield12
http://www.espn.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/...r-jose-quintana Put this here because more and more articles are coming out theorizing the White Sox could compete theoretically as early as this season...by keeping Quintana. Dick Allen
QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) Hopefully it's posturing because otherwise it's bulls*** It is just a writer's opinion that keeping him and signing a bunch of free agents in 2 years could make them a contender for 2019. No posturing. He says the Sox may need a guy like Q then. No s***, every team could use a guy like Q. But if they do absolutely have a hole in their rotation, doesn't it show these trades didn't work out as perfectly as hoped? Besides Hahn already has layed out his cards. As far as total rebuilds go, he is all in. Q is a goner. Edited December 11, 2016 by Dick Allen
Two-Gun Pete
On balance, if the returns aren't there for Q, im perfectly comfortable holding onto him until an absolute Tsunami of high-end prospects are dropped into Hahn's lap in trade. Im also comfortable with signing a couple middling veteran SPs, so as to block Giolito and Kopech from breaking camp with the big club. (Or, until Kopech/Giolito FORCE a promotion, and/or trades for Q & Gonzalez can be had.) Kenny's always liked Edwin Jackson and John Danks... I would welcome them back, so as to assure a #1 overall pick, and to keep the youngsters in Charlotte for a few months.
