Insane how loaded our core was at one point with position players. Thomas, Magglio, Konerko, Carlos Lee, Ray Durham, Valentine...how was that team not better???

Who was the fifth starter again?

Bottom line when it comes to any potential trade for the Q: If a team isn't wiling to pay our asking price, which should be as much as what we asked for Sale, than we don't trade Q. Some question whether we can get such a big return and I say it all depends on how badly that trade partner wants to win in 2017. Q is a #1 starter on a lot of teams.

It will be interesting as a Sox fan to keep watch from a distance on all these players that we may or may not acquire.

For instance, I already will be measuring Bientiendi (spelled wrong, don't care) versus Moncada for the next 5 years. Likewise we will do the same with Robles and Bregman and Tucker and Meadows, Torres, etc.

Ha, I have been thinking the same thing, especially with Benintendi, Devers and Robles. The Sox have made the best decisions they can based on the information they have now, so you can't fault them if the "other guys" pan out and Moncada, et. al. bust. But it will be fascinating to follow!

Have the Rockies ever been actually linked to Quintana?

Nope, but if you want a long shot, we at one point had been discussing Quintana trades including rox trades and bucket said many trade propositions in our thread were close to what was being discussed.

Basically a done deal Q to Rockies.

We really need some fresh new rumors.

Of course, we have no idea how many of these "other guys" were even available in trade.

Or actual trades. Two weeks since Eaton, I'm a little surprised they haven't made another one since. Just going to be a long process over the next year.

That totally is a measure of the marketplace versus what the Sox are looking for. If they were getting big offers, there would be about 10 guys would be gone.

And if Turner and Jansen didn't re-sign with the Dodgers, Robertson and Frazier could be gone.

Market isn't really moving aside from Sox either. The closer market moved but that's about it.

What contenders need a 3B? Doesn't really seem like there is much of a market based on the contract Turner got.

Giants

Trade him for Trevor Brown.

Mets could use him too.

Astros need a 1B, DH - would have fit seamlessly had we snagged Bergman.

What am I missing with Trevor Brown? I'll admit I know nothing about him, but I don't see much to like based on a quick google search. Seems like there are better prospects to target, perhaps a guy like Chris Shaw could work.

Where did you hear this?

Had lunch with some buds, and one googled the Pirates, showed me his phone. That's what it said, not the best source, I know. Still, it makes sense.
