If the Pirates get Quintana, it's going to be a 2-team trade. The Yankees stuff seems off. They can make their own trade after the fact,.

The only reason for the Yankees to get involved is if the Pirates are unwilling to move a top bat. That's why the Glasnow to NYY idea is interesting.

The Pirates best chance of winning the next 2 seasons would involve trading for Q and hanging on to and hoping for a bounce back from Cutch. Anything else is just maximum effort half assing.

I agree. The whole Yankees for McCutchen doesn't make that much sense considering their timeline and what they'd give up. I think both want Quintana and someone will go all-in very soon.

Pirates may very well believe that Meadows will be better than Cutch next year and this is an "anything to keep Meadows" move. If they can't, maybe they move on to dealing Meadows with it.

(maybe white sox are trying to sabotage deal)

Have to pay to play. Remember when Aaron Poreda was supposed to be a big part of our MLB team? We showcased him just to deal for Peavy. Astros could have just showcased Musgrove and or Bregman and we may be forcing their hand. Musgrove moreso than Bregman.

Have to pay to play is correct. That's why a deal won't get done unless the Sox back off those two. I don't think Poreda ever showed the success that these two have anyway.

Anyone know a good Yankees forum? Would love to hear their thoughts on this rumor.

Riveraveblues all believe it's not true, and those that do are also trying to dump headley on us, for that, we get basically nothing.

pretty dece trade.

They were much more reasonable when Q was coming straight up.

Meadows is a great prospect. I would love for the Sox to get him, but thinking he is one of the answers to a playoff team in 2017 is half assing 101. I don't blame them for not trading Meadows, I understand the appeal, but their window is short, they need a Cutch bounce back not a Cutch trade at a bargain rate. .

But if they aren't interested in moving Torres for Q, why would they for Glasnow? Torres is the only piece the Yankees have that interests me more than Glasnow.

Is there any scenario wherein the White Sox take back McCutchen?

Or is this more like the Pirates won't move their top bats, but the Yankees have an excess, so we're getting the Yankees involved in Glasnow to get the likes of Rutherford and Andujar back?

I wouldn't rule it out entirely but almost. He was a legit superstar and there's no way at 30 years old he should've fell so low except for perhaps nagging injuries. He should still have big upside for 3 or 4 more years though his CF days are nearing an end. If part of the plan is to get reclamation projects to flip later who better than a youngish superstar who had 1 bad year and might be sold low who has basically 2 years left before he is a FA.

Problem is giving up Q for him shouldn't be part of the plan

Yeah, I honestly feel bad for Pirates fans. They were so excited and instead of this being a sign of full on going for it it's going for it*
