ok genius. So what do you suggest they do? And make it good. Because I will destroy that ass.

It doesn't matter what I think. But getting excited about sucking for a really long time just doesn't hold any level of excitement for me. I already passed on Soxfest because who am I going to go see? I also passed on the kids club membership, because even free tickets aren't going to be worth it this year by the time parking and ballpark prices are paid. No interest in buying into intentional and long term suck.

It does matter what you think because you keep complaining about the change of course. We have been in the middle of long term suck since the end of 2006, with no plan except cobble things together and cross our fingers. It hasnt worked.

They arent wanting to lose forever, there is a little bit of light in the horizon. I honestly cannot understand why this is so upsetting to you after watching the completely dead and dysfunctional product that has been thrown at us for the last 11 years

Oh my goodness. it's fans like you that i detest. Why are fans like you so damn scary? Yes, the white sox will suck next year and the year after that. THEY'VE SUCKED FOR 5 YEARS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO WIN. Now if Moncada and every single elite or damn near elite pitching prospect we've acquired sucks, underachieves, etc, while flopping on multiple top 3 picks we get from being so bad then i guess you're right, we'll suck for 15 years. but that's not gonna happen. not even close. wake up and be thankful to b a sox fan in 2016.

Intentionally losing is the worst position of all.

Eh. I have no interest in wasting major league money on an intentionally bad product, nor do I feel like getting excited about knowing this is going to be the worst time to be a Sox fan in decades. Hoping what might happen in five years isn't really a reason to be excited today for me. It is the route we have chosen and all, but it is so depressing. It isn't like you can sim this time period to see if it works like OOTP. You have to live through the misery. Bleh.

I am somewhere in the middle of J4L and ss2k with this. I am interested and excited because that s*** they were doing before didn't work and this is refreshing but I am still not looking forward to the guaranteed suck fest that we will be watching the next 2-3 years. I am not drunk off of the rebuild freshness. I know I am not going to enjoy much of what I see the next few years and neither will anyone else on this board, believe me.

I disagree. If you aren't a playoff contender, purposeful losing is the best route.

this goes back to my constant discussion of "are you a baseball fan." Or are you a fan of winning?

Can you enjoy a baseball game if your team loses?

What does your pity party have to do with this thread? If you arent interested then dont even bother posting. What do you want the FO to do? Seriously.

I am ready for a rebuild. Willing to lose a season or two while we gather young talent and prepare them for the majors.

The other team in town just proved that it can be done. And unlike the thoughts from that poster yesterday.... the Cubs are going to be a top contending team for the next 5 years unless their older pitchers fall off. Even then, they can just draft pitching (or best player available and trade for pitching).

Again, we have been depressed and living with the misery anyways. Nothing to truly look forward to except "well hopefully this guy finds the magic". You dont have to waste your money on the games if you dont want to, Cubs fans sure stayed away when they were dropping 95-100 games a few years ago. If you dont want to go to games because of the product on the field, that doesnt make you a bad fan. But you at least can look at some of the acquisitions and have some hope that it will get better. Hell, the Cubs buried Bryant in the minors when everyone knew he could more than handle major league pitching. At least you know you will be seeing Moncada and Anderson growing together pretty quickly

You sound like a Cubs fan from 2013 or 2014. Ask fathom. I told wim the cubs were coming and they were coming soon.

Yes, if the losing is purposeful. Now that line is sometimes difficult to see. But clearly since 2009, the Sox were trying to win and losing. This year (and the next), it is clear the Sox are trying to lose. "Mired in mediocrity" is the worst position to be in, IMO.

The White Sox will never have the back-to-back season of massive spending like the Cubs had. 2 of the Cubs top 8 players by WAR are not homegrown, the next two after that are Hendry picks. Following their model and fetishizing losing for a half decade will bring ruin to the Sox.

The Sox would be about 2-3 years away from you being able to make that statement and then another 2-3 years until you can say I told you so. Its gonna be a long ride dude. I look forward to seeing these young kids come through and hopefully Hahn making a lot of shrewd moves but I know its going to be a painful ride.

It is obviously easier for me (FutureSox duh) to be excited about this rebuild than most. But I used to watch a ton of major league games in previous years, but I realized somewhere through the 2016 season I barely tuned in at all. It wasn't that they were just awful (they were), it was seeing studs like Sale, Q, Eaton, Abreu, etc flounder out there. If the White Sox could not build a competent supporting cast around these players, why have them? Our personal enjoyment? This is a prudent decision in a lot of ways and though it is a risky plan they are embarking on, it is exorbitantly less so than the failing status quo.
