With Sale on the move, #WhiteSox still active, and yes #Cardinals interest in Eaton persists. Here's why: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/baseball/pr...aign=user-share … @stltoday

Trading Chris Sale begins the #WhiteSox rebuilding work. Perhaps that makes Adam Eaton -- a fit for #STLCards -- even more available.

They'd better be willing to pony up if they want Adam Eaton.

Eaton is never going to be more valuable than he is right now. He's coming off a 6 WAR season when his true talent is probably 3.5-4 wins. It's doubtful he can repeat his defensive season last year.

With the Cards' history of developing really good hitters out of their system, the Sox can probably get a top 5 guy and then a few complimentary pieces that can develop more than their tools show.

Can't see him being dealt until Fowler and maybe Desmond signs. Probably Gomez as well. Just money in those cases (plus 1 draft pick for the first 2).

I would very much be interested in going after Gomez if I were the White Sox, now that they have moved Sale. Fills a need, doesn't matter if he's terrible, if he gets a 2 year deal then he could be tradeable if he can recover somewhat.

I want him as well.

He'll cost more than I want to pay, but salary shouldn't be a major concern for this franchise right now. They just cleared out money and will be clearing out more money. They have no one back in the Sale deal who will take over CF. Overpay him, fine.

Eaton could get at least one top 5 Cards prospect outside of Reyes. Maybe Weaver/Bader as the main piece?

I don't like the Cardinals farm that much to deal Eaton. He is under cheap control for 5 seasons and is coming off a 6.2 WAR season.

I would listen to offers, but an inexpensive left handed all star outfielder will net a ton in a trade

We'll need some ML players that we just don't have. If players are left out, I like getting one of these sluggers like Carter (more like Collabello though) and Gomez as lottery tickets to flip.

Can't remember the report, but I saw somewhere that Hahn is looking for a catcher and Casey Kelly could be in the package.

Adam Eaton has a ridiculous amount of surplus value given his 5 year, $38 million deal remaining for his prime years

The package would have to be a massive haul for me to deal Eaton's 5 year of team control. He is a plug and play table setter and great right fielder.

Thing about Cardinals, I don't really like any of their prospects, but I'm sure almost all of their prospects will come up and produce way more than we imagine. Bader is probably going to be really good due to cardinals effect.

If Eaton is going to receive full value, then you can start with Reyes. If that is deemed a pipe dream for whatever reason then I'm asking for Kelly, Bader, DeJong minimum. None of them are sure things to me or Elite prospects but they're still very good. I could stomach this package in the event we are going to hear more of this untouchable nonsense that has been used unlike anything I've seen with trade talks in the past.

I'd need the Cards Top 5:

Reyes (#7 MLB), Weaver (#81 MLB), Bader (#82 MLB), Flaherty (#4 STL) and Perez (#5 STL).

If you do a reverse rankings formula of sorts where #1 = 100 points, Sale netted 170+ points (Moncada = worth 100, Kopech worth 70). The Cards deal above nets 130+ (Reyes 93, Weaver 19, Bader 18)

No way st Louis parts with that much for Eaton. I read a st Louis fan article that wouldn't part with weaver for Eaton and I laughed

People said the same thing with Sale. It's not going to be nearly as much as you think.

I really hope Eaton doesn't get traded. He is the type of player you want in a rebuild.

Yeah if he was 22, not 28. The Sox sent a clear message acquiring strictly prospects - that this is gonna be a long process. Eaton will be 31 or 32 with a year or 2 of control left by the time we're competitive again anually.

The other thing that needs to be brought up in every Eaton thread is that he's a guy we heard the word "attitude" used about even before we traded for him, and he just might not be that good of a guy to have around on a team that is clearly looking 3 years down the road and just traded a guy he's probably friends with.
