DirtySox
Vinnie Cervino @vcervinoPG 44m44 minutes ago The stuff has been very good for @USFBaseball LHP Shane McClanahan through two. Touched a few 98s, T99 while sitting low-mid 90s. CH (84-85) has been a real weapon against RHH, showing + w/ nice down action. Easy 70 arm spd & flashed good looking SL (83-86) too #mlbdraft Vinnie Cervino @vcervinoPG Follow Follow @vcervinoPG McClanahan’s ability to add and subtract has been superb tonight. Worked in the low-90s for most of the inning, then 97-97-98-98-99 to K cleanup hitter Michael Busch. #mlbdraft

Top high school pitcher Ethan Hankins experienced some shoulder tightness in a recent start. He'll get it looked into further to make sure it's nothing major. #mlbdraft
Lillian
QUOTE (daggins @ Feb 16, 2018 -> 04:55 PM) Beer hits a double in his first AB. Law seems to be extraordinarily high on him, he seems like a comp round guy. Here it is, with Beer's comments, in the audio:

However a serious injury for him would likely push him out of top 3 and take another player away Sox could draft

He's come out of the gate well this weekend for @SouthALBaseball. 3-for-9, two homers, six runs, eight walks, just one strikeout.

Dunt
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 10:45 AM) Greyson Jenista is a guy I'm really interested in at this point. I think there is going to be a lot of movement with the college players this season. Jenista, Conine, Gilbert, and Rolison are all guys I'm keeping my eye on. Rolison is especially interesting in that he is a draft eligible sophomore. If he keeps up these gawdy type of numbers, he could easily sneak into the top 5. Dunt
QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 11:37 AM) bittersweet line there. Ya, the control is a problem. I watched most of the start and he has nasty stuff. He's not going to last at the next level though if he can't locate it. I can see him falling to the back of the top 10-15. DirtySox
Jim Callis @jimcallisMLB Good news on Ethan Hankins, potential No. 1 overall @MLBDraft pick. No tears in shoulder, just a muscular issue that should clear up with some physical therapy for a couple of weeks. Left his Saturday start after about 15 pitches, fastball was down to 86-94 that day. Dominikk85
I would also stay away from prep pitchers even though prep pitchers are likely the most talented group of the draft. You could get the next Kershaw or bumgarner but more likely a complete bust. The hitters and college arms of the draft might not have a super high ceiling but you have a much better chance to get at least like an average player in his prime (50 to 55 fv). Dominikk85
Btw according to fangrqphs last years draft (after they played short season): 1. McKay 60fv (22) 2. hiura 55fv (24) 3. Wright 55 (26) 4. Gore 55 (33) 5. Lewis 55 (38) 6. Greene 55 (42) 7. Addel 50 (66) 8. Lutz 50 (68) So I think at 5 the sox should probably be able to get a 55 or so, definitely a top100 prospect right away or after a good short season.
