Sox a finalist for Derek Holland

Assuming a full tear-down, the White Sox are going to be really, really bad with an expansion team roster. There are about 1,500 innings to account for. Someone has to pitch them. I'd rather it be something like a Holland reclamation project or an Erik Johnson Quad-A type than rushing someone (ahem, Carson Fulmer) up to the bigs.

With punting on the next year or two, White Sox can afford to be patient with young players for once.

No, but the reality is it's just pissing it away. Again, I don't have a list of guys, but there should be others who maybe strike people out or throw groundballs when everything is right. Those are the types to take chances on. Not some guy whose style doesn't fit the ballpark when he is 100%, which he probably will not be or Texas doesn't let him go.

Aren't you the one who is fond of saying that it isn't your money?

Danks is on the phone.

Fister on a one year, $5 million deal is zero risk to the White Sox really

He pitched 180 innings and we are going to need those to be eaten somehow

Let our young players develop in the minors and absolutely tank at the mlb level to land a top draft pick

With the right deconstruction we can land a top 5 pick the next two seasons in a row and be improved dramatically by 2019 / 2020

Yes, but the point is, it is just pissing it away. If they want to piss it away, it's their money. But the only good coming from the White Sox signing Derek Holland would be from Mr. Holland's bank account. He wouldn't be successful, and wouldn't be able to eat innings. If it were the Twins or Royals, they should be all over this guy. Not the White Sox. Look for a better fit.

There seems to be more and more teams either tanking or seriously considering it, not just in baseball, but football and basketball as well. While it may be wise, it is going to take it's toll IMO on the leagues. A lot of uninteresting games.

The problem is that in so many sports you can immediately identify a handful of teams that have a legitimate chance of winning the championship

The White Sox are extremely unlikely to win the central division in 2017 or 2018 barring something crazy happening, so why not undergo a rebuild that can lead to future success?

Tanking, if done purposefully and the right way combined with drafting well, scouting, free agent acquisition, etc. can turn the White Sox franchise around.

We have gone WAY too long without a comprehensive rebuild and the organization should be better for it, finally committing to strengthening the farm going into the future to build a contender year in and year out

The White Sox are pretty much in the same position as the Twins.

All the lefties!!!

Why not...get rid of Gonzalez and/or Shields whenever we get offers too good to pass up OR hold these guys in the rotation to protect Fulmer/Giolito/Lopez until they're ready.

Win-win. Hopefully we get our own version of Feldman or Loaiza (2003).

Sign Holland and Anderson, keep Shields in hopes he finds it again and ship him out with the others if they do at the deadline if not they help with the tank job.
