Lip Man 1
QUOTE (The Gooch @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 12:28 PM) How long will Hawk stick around through the rebuild? As long as JR owns the team he will work. Mark
NorthSideSox72
I'd be happy if he retired today. Hard to say when he actually will.
tray
We have been spoiled by having Harry and Hawk for the last few decades. Moving forward , it would be great if Hawk and Stone retired and the Sox got a new announcing team, with Bennetti moving to the radio side. WBWSF
After the 2017 White Sox lose over 100 games, Hawk will retire and ride off into the sunset. He won't want to be a part of a team that resembles the new version of the St. Louis Browns.
Jake
Hawk is uniquely qualified to pump up underachieving young players
Bananarchy
He needs to go. The other broadcast without him is night and day better. He was great like ten years ago. Now he's just a caricature.
tray
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 07:17 AM) Stone Bennetti is fine. No, that has to be blown up as well. In my opinion, Bennetti is awful. Let him take over the radio side and get some experience. Stone is done and so is Hawk. Thank them for their service and honor them. Then bring in a new team with a fresh perspective.
Dick Allen
Jason and Steve were a comedy show in 2016, and you are going to need that the next couple of years, as the on the field product is going to be hard to watch. And Hawk for half the games telling you how much potential everyone has and how in his 113 decades in the game he has never seen so much minor league talent, is good for the product as well. I just hope it works, and quickly.
fathom
Benetti doing the Duke/UNLV game with Vitale. And yes, he's asking Vitale a million questions.
Bananarchy
As usual, DA has no idea what he's talking about. Jason and a Stone are great.

So I complement them, and I have no idea what I'm talking about because you think they are great. Well, someone has no idea what they are talking about, as usual. caulfield12
I'd give Benetti two more years...otherwise, I might think about moving him to radio and retiring Farmer.

Really? I think Benetti is the voice of the White Sox for the next 20 years unless he leaves.
Jake
Benetti brings out a different side of Steve, but it's just a more arrogant one.
LittleHurt05
Blowing up the roster and firing Hawk would equate to the 2nd best offseason in 100 years.
Donaldo
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) Benetti doing the Duke/UNLV game with Vitale. And yes, he's asking Vitale a million questions. About 5 years ago, Vitale became a parody of himself. In the past few years he has cut back on some of the "Dickie V" crap and has focused a little more on relevant commentary. IMO, he's tolerable again. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 10, 2016 -> 06:01 PM) Benetti brings out a different side of Steve, but it's just a more arrogant one. That became obvious towards the end of last season. The tone in Steve's voice was unmistakable at times.

They'll win 10 road games all year. Maybe 17 or so.

Saladino'sMustache
It's nice to know I'm not the only one that can't stand listening to Benetti. I loved listening to Podsednik or Rowand whenever they would visit the booth. Maybe we can bring in one of those guys?

I get it alot of people don't like Hawk, and alot of people would've said a robot was better and that's what Bennetti is. I definetely preferred Brian Anderson or Pods for sure, Swirsky certainly was not an answer either.
chitownsportsfan
Benetti is ok but he is too corny and too generally naive or ignorant about the nuances of the game for my liking. Stone is fine imo. He is a know it all but most former player analysts are. Hawk? Dude, he needs to be put out to pasture. He was fun in his prime but those days are long passed. Hawk will die in the booth if JR lets him and that is not how it should end.

They have announcer voices and not conversational like Hawk and Harry. I think Bennetti is good cause he's at least conversational. Hardly any do that. They have the nasal announcer voice. Keep Benneti forever. Hawk will quit soon enough. All road games for a team that is going to lose an unprecedented amount of road games the next 3-4 seasons. I mean a rebuilding team on the road? That can't be fun to announce a batch of 8-1 losses and 12-3 losses. Hawk will be gone very soon if we keep making rebuilding trades.
