Bob Sacamano
I wouldn't be shocked if he put up decent 5th starter type numbers and I wouldn't be shocked if he got lit up in all honesty.
southsider2k5
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) I wouldn't be shocked if he put up decent 5th starter type numbers and I wouldn't be shocked if he got lit up in all honesty. I had the feeling that the back injury bothered him more than anyone let on. He seemed to be having some pretty decent mechanical problems at points last season, and he seemed to be trying to protect his back after some deliveries. It is a complete stab in the dark, but I think the Sox got conned by the Padres, and they didn't want to make a big deal of it. I expect Shields to come back in better shape and healthy, and put up decent numbers.
Bob Sacamano
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 19, 2016 -> 09:39 AM) I had the feeling that the back injury bothered him more than anyone let on. Exactly. So I'm expecting anywhere from solid back-end of the rotation type numbers to how he did last year (maybe slightly worse).
BamaDoc
I expect an awful W-L record because in my world I make him my 1 or 2 starter (depends on if Q on team). He would split up two lefties if Q is here and even if not, I have him in front of Rodon for the sake of Rodon's psyche. Rodon could be a part of the future while Shields most assuredly won't be. Let Shields take the lumps.
ChiSox59
I think Shields will bounce back decently next year. 29 starts 9-12 185 IP 157 K 80 BB 4.13 ERA Not too shabby for a 4/5 guy.
Tnetennba
Starts a lot of games, gets shelled in most. rarely makes it to the 6th inning. gone by the 4th more often than not.

TheFutureIsNear
I"ll say something like 100 IP with a 5+ ERA before he is DFA'd effectively ending his career. Seems like a nice guy and he was once very good, but unless some miracle happens I can't see him bouncing back. He was throwing BP fastballs up there last year.
