A game I remember

Not a particularly meaningful game in 1991, but we brought a cousin from England with and he was pretty bored because the crowd wasn't as active and vocal as the crowds at sporting events in England. However, the crowd after the big hit was electric. Walking back to our car, even my cousin was caught up in the atmosphere. I just watched it again - still awesome.

Oh, and the ball landed a few rows away from us.

So many since I've been a fan since the early 1950s. Here are just a few that I attended.

First game, a 5-4 victory over the old Washington Senators, July 15, 1955.

Second game of the 1959 World Series even though it was a loss to the Dodgers.

July 31, 1977 a great come from behind win against the Royals in the first game of a DH. Over 50,000 in the old barn and that victory put us up by 7 games in the division. I've never seen and heard old Comiskey rock like it did after the win. It was all down hill after that weekend for the Southside Hitmen as they finished third at 90-72 but 1977 was one of the most fun ever for at old Comiskey.

Opening day in 1981 at Comiskey before 51,000, Fisk's first home game with the Sox and he hit a grand slam to lead the Sox to a big win over the Brewers.

Division clincher against the Mariners in 1993 at new Comiskey. That was the game that Bo Jackson hit a pop up that somehow landed in the left field seats and won the game. Lots of dancing in the aisles after the game as the Sox came out for a victory lap.

We moved to Florida 3 months after that game so I missed out on 2000, 2005 and 2008 but did see many Sox games in Tampa plus a few games when we came back to Chicago to visit family.

The game against the Astros in 2006 when they were down 9-1 in the 7th and tied it at 9 (Iguchi went ham) but ultimately lost 10-9. I might have screamed as loud as I did for Konerko's WS slam. I remember thinking to myself we were gonna repeat at that moment. Sox were coming back left and right the first half of that year. 3 runs? 5 runs? Didn't matter how much they were down by. They were gonna find a way.

Mark Buerhle pitched a gem and said after the game that he was ready to go out for the 10th. I believe it the way he was pitching that night. A.J. found himself in the midst of yet another controversy, and, as always seemed to happen that year for whatever reason, Joe Crede came through in the clutch when you least expected him to. Possibly my favorite game of the entire run, especially when you consider the importance of it in the overall scheme of things. Losing this game would've meant going to Anaheim down 0-2, which may have lead to eventual elimination instead of the championship run on which the team embarked.

Frank Thomas' first game back as an Oakland Athletic.

Two home runs off of Garland; the first one, we gave him a standing ovation, the second we booed him.

It also had a two-out, walk-off bunt by Pablo Ozuna and a squirrel delay.

Down one in the bottom of the ninth, Dick Allen breaks up a Nolan Ryan no-hitter with an infield hit. That's followed by an error and a couple more singles. Sox end up winning 2-1, years before the term walk-off was ever coined. :)

Jeff Abbott hit a 2 run walk off HR with 2 outs in the 9th against Bob Wells. This is one of the most distinctly familiar games that I can remember. It's weird.

Love this game. From 03 when Paulie and Frank got Guardado. Hawk's HR call was awesome. I think it was Robbie Alomar's first game.

C'mon, dude. a 2005 playoff memory? WTH doesn't remember EVERY single game from the 2005 postseason? This is for random games throughout ones fandom that some might not remember.

The White Sox were getting no hit by Dave Stieb going to the bottom of the 9th. It was to the point where the fans were rooting for the no hitter. Then Rudy Law, Bryan Little and Harold Baines went back to back to back off of Stieb. Craziest switch in a game I have ever seen.
